Your not doing anything wrong. Its just minions mostly suck until you get to a higher gem level.

I remember doing that fight on ambush using searing bond, then I would spam desecrate + raise zombie with a tabula rasa equipped and just run him down by spamming minions.

It doesn't work, but even if it did, 5 points for 10% penetration sounds like a horrible waste of points.

It's +143.2 life with this particular build. Also, imo, the 40 life vs. 8% node debate is only relevant assuming you have an available 8%, but no points to put in it, and from what I can tell, matt's build already gets all available life, so Oak would be extra life.

Also, what does 'more flexibility' mean in the context of summoners? Because to me, flexibility boils down to: got a Shav's? Yes - point. No - life.

Zombies are not boss-viable or Merciless-viable until you get the gem to at least level 15. Aside from the low life pool, glvl <15 zombies have 18% lightning res., which is impossible to cap at that level, and obviously gets them wiped in a spell-heavy fight such as Dominus.

Personally, I never level as summoner and I never switch before Merciless. And even level 18 zombies (16+2 from helm), which is around clvl 60, have trouble with Merciless Vaal, and require extremely defensive play.

I've never actually looked at minion numbers before, but I'd say that's pretty overpowered. You know, doing 8-man dps as one character. Without counting spectres even.
The dps is high, but really, their AI sucks) That's why ppl with 20k dps seem to be better than all zombies+spectres together

But 4 mon'tregul zombies + 5 regular zombies clear faster than 9 resular zombies - assuming same gem setup. From the gem descriptions, the mon'tregul zombies have slightly more hp too. (20% level 19 gem, regular zombies use 39% life chober)


I don't think so either. Also snapshotting will soon be removed from the game we have to start planning ahead. We will have to make a choice. Montregul zombies or normal zombies.

I have a feeling after testing that normal zombies are better. Thx to the guy posting the dps numbers. Looks like i had the right feeling.

You can't compare montregul zombies with normal zombies with 40% chober. When snapshotting is fixed you won't be able to do that trick unless you decide to use that weapon (chober) all the time that is.

I believe Montreguls limit of zombies does not qualify as snapshotting. Because this limitation is not one of characteristics of the summoned zombies, but rather it is a restriction for the player himself. This restriction applies only as long as the Mont's remains equipped.

and that's exatcly why it is broken, i doubt that the item was meant to allow us to have 4 + 4 zombies (my specific case)... unless that GGG changes the item :D "stats are only aplied to 50% of your max nr of zombies". anyways if the mechaninc is fixed without any change to the item, we can probably say goodby to one of the best summoner uniques.

Well, Ok, after giving it a second thought I see the point. The "limit of zombies" itself may not be snapshotting, but other qualities of zombies coming from it (+life, +damage, "infernal blow") ARE snapshotting. So after a fix one would have to choose between 4 super-zombies and 8-9 regular ones, because once Mont's would be unequipped the super zombies would lose their super qualities and become regular ones.

I think the analogy I want to use for how deep I'm about to get with arc dps will get me banned, but it's REAL deep. I have traded EB for Arcane Focus, and picked up Ghost Reaver. Currently at 3300HP(chaos capped) and 3500ES being refilled by arc-leech. I haven't even begun to min/max...holding a midnight/pain attune, dropping NA holding rathpith, starting up the left side of the tree. Ahhh yes Vaal Disc will make you invuln to everything anytime you want. Arctic Armor will end up being troublesome, lower rank probably needed.

ES chest in case that is not clear. Grab a nice cheap ES chest, spend 7regs to get Focus/Reaver pump that arc-leech and help me tweak! (Seriously min/maxing this is giving me a headache...help?)

Things are getting real, running 7xAura w/o EB(No Alpha). Blood magic 3x aura no reduced mana to hit pain attunement with my prism. Trying to figure out a way to ditch pur ele for haste since my zombies/evas don't need any cold rez with NA prism.

Im a little bit out of both time and currencies to test it in the right situation:
I tested with my guardian and lv80 witch.
Ideally I should be with a witch arround lv12 to 16:
For leveling as a summoner:
Aura hatred
4L
Animate guardian lv2 to 3
AG + WED + MD + ML
Gear
2x ungils gauche / last resort Crest of Perandus
Viel of the night
Ondar clasp / slitherpinch
Brumble jack/ Zahndetus Cassock
Any boots

Should survive until acte 3 normal, unsocket for high spell damage boss until you get bone offering.
Tested in sarn merc and sarn corrupted area with bone offering.

Should clear easily most mobs in normal up to midd acte 3 (unsocket for crema or library battlefront)

The gears are fairly low cost.
If some are bored or not doing the race why not check it out with a new witch ;) ?

i tried it on the zombie dps calculator, and it seems that lvl 20 trap gives more dps than 20/20 faster atcks. gonna try it now.

PS: if you are NOT runing Haste aura faster atks is sligtly better
