Running unidentified maps kicks ass.

However, there needs to be more ways to get them. As it is, I have to rely entirely on the odds of a magic/rare map dropping which is exceptionally rare.
I'd even go so far as to suggest perhaps when you alch/transmute an item, its unidentified at first and you must ID it. This could have interesting consequences even outside of maps.

I've run about 30 maps so far on my first character and so far... un-ided maps? What are these mythical items you talk of? Maybe its because I'm running +150 iir instead of iiq (+10%) but my map drop rate is horrible. In fact, I have run out of maps right now because my last 12 maps with minimum +30% iiq gave me NO maps at all, even after clearing down to the last boulder and barrel.

I only have about 30 IIQ and 60 IIR. I get on average about 2-3 maps of the same level as the one I am running on a map, give or take. Sometimes I hit streaks of none, but usually that is the norm. However, they are normal maps, not un-id because I very very rarely see magic/rare drops for maps.
Ironically, the more +quantity I have on a map, the less likely I am to see anything decent from it. All my best finds were on ones with like 20%. 'Dat RNG.

Can't you vendor blue or rare maps x3 for the next tier unid? Like 3 blue Crypts gets you a unid blue Cemetary or something?

I know you can vendor 3 maps of the same time to get next tier, not sure if it keeps rarity/magic of it. If so, that would be awesome to do, but still its 3 69 maps for 1 70 map unid'd
I think chisel the map still better 20 iiq vs 30 iiq with mods like blood magic. 10 iiq is not worth the risk imo

There was an excellent suggestion posted a while back that if you drop an ID'd map and a bit of currency into the Map Device, that the map be blindly rerolled into an UNID'd map and opens portals, consuming the map. This seems reasonable.

Well I like the risk. I was doing this already before they added it as a feature. However, it's nice to get a little quantity boost for it.

Suggestion :

2 rare unid rings + 20% Quality map of same Ilvl in map device yields 1 rare unid 20% map of same Ilvl.

That's real crafting.
