I think the new on-hit effect for Fire damage looks awful

I'm talking about the burst of flame that appears when you attack an enemy with a weapon (not a fire spell) and your fire damage exceeds that of your other two elements. I play a triple-elemental split arrow build, so fire is usually the graphical effect that I get if my lightning damage was on the low end of its damage potential or if attacking lightning resistant mobs. However I never really noticed the fire damage much before, which is a good thing to me... I don't need ridiculous flashy effects filling my my entire screen constantly. That is why I play Split Arrow in the first place, instead of Lightning Arrow. I want a clean screen.

The lightning effect is okay because it's just a quick blue flash. Cold is even better because it just turns the monsters blue. These effects are both clean looking.

The new fire effect is anything but clean. It's big. It's bright. It's obnoxious. It doesn't even really look like fire. Here are a couple screen shots I got of it. I couldn't take a screenshot of me attacking a group of 20+ mobs due to my game freezing for about a second when I take screenshots and I didn't want to die. But believe me, when I'm fighting a group of 20+ mobs and attacking 4 times per second, it looks a lot worse than this.

It looks like fireworks going off, or some kind of explosion. Shouldn't fire damage make the enemy be partially ingulfed in a small amount of flames (so as not to overdo it and make it unappealing to look at)?

Why was this done in the first place? What was wrong with the old on-hit fire effect? Simplicity wins it for me... The new fire effect is just... too much. That is what Explosive Arrow should look like - not Split Arrow. If a GGG developer is reading this, would you guys mind considering reverting to the old fire effect? Or at least something much smaller and easier on the eyes?

Edit: New screenshot of me attacking a beetle with Frenzy (a physical attack - why should a physical attack look like THIS?). Note that there are two beetles here.

Strange it looks like this for me. I even turned off bloom and texture size to a lower setting for the screenshot. Its more impactful and less laggy. Thats why it was changed.

Thanks for the reply Rus. What do you mean by "more impactful"? I can understand why you'd want to make it less laggy, but for what it's worth, since the patch my framerate has been worse than previously when attacking large groups of mobs with Split Arrow + Chain. I assumed this was due to the new flashier fire effect. My PC isn't that great so any performance increase is welcomed. Is this new fire effect truly more resource efficient?

In the second picture it looks like he's kicking the enemy and it just explodes
IRON MAN

was wondering about this as well. initially thought it was a bug. doesn't look that great when it's from voidbringers imo. maybe restrict the effect to only show on crits?

Hey dont post pics of Rune Scape then photoshop PoEs UI over it.

However yes we do need to sort out a blue flame damage effect. Looks weird when blue randomly turns to red.

No the new effect is faster in every way man. Im not sure why your getting lower fps : < before it used to emit like 394823048230 particles that all lingered around for ages at ate up fill rate. Not to mention there was like 15-19 different textures in there heh. Its now reduced down to about 6. The particle counts very small too. Also over half of its alpha test now so it doesn't have to do heaps of calculation of blending all the particles together. As lots of them are just counted as solid objects.

I must disagree. I like the new fire effect. And yes my GMP incinerate build is a lot less laggy :) Thank u.
Looks perfect.
My little tribute to Diablo 1 aka why Diablo 3 is the worst part of the series.

The new fire effects are too large, bright and distracting as shown in Invalesco's screenshot.
