Maping is not fun
Here’s what endgame mapping looked like in 0.1.0:
-Find a cluster of 6–7 overlapping towers. -Spend over an hour running empty maps just to reach those towers. -Optionally clear bad-layouts to ensure tablets influence the good ones. -Clear the towers, insert the tablets. -Finally, you can run your juiced maps. The changes to towers in 0.2.0 made zero difference to this process. Endgame mapping looks exactly the same — except now you’re hunting for 3 overlapping towers instead of 6 or 7. It doesn’t matter how much content you put into tower maps, how good the layouts are, or whether we can place 3 or 57 tablets in them. As long as juice is locked behind overlapping towers, mapping will remain exactly the same — tedious and unenjoyable. I just finished running a cluster of maps I had set up. I’d love to just put in another map and keep grinding, but instead, I have to go find another tower cluster and run through 10–20 (or however many) worthless, empty maps to get there. And there is also a possibility, that when i finally do get there, all the space inbetween towers will be filled with water making it all a complete waste of time. In PoE1, I can run the content I want, on the map I want, with the difficulty I want — whenever I want. Here, everything I actually want to do seems to be locked behind a wall of tedious and unfun chores. Rolling maps and tablets is also made unnecessarily painful. Instead of simply right-clicking Distilled Emotions and applying them to maps, there's a clunky UI that makes the process take ten times longer for no reason. Same with tablets — I can’t just sell them 3-to-1 in bulk. I have to use the reforging bench and reforge them one by one, which takes forever. Difficulty and loot scaling is another issue. There’s no real incentive to upgrade my build, because the difficulty is trivial, and there’s no meaningful way to scale it. Running a 6-mod map doesn’t feel much different from running a 1-mod map (in terms of loot), and since difficulty-related mods aren’t actually tied to loot, there is no real incentive to run maps with more than 1 mod(rarity). Most map mechanics feel completely worthless — Shrines, Strongboxes, Wisps, Rogue Exiles... they might as well not exist. Delirium has been bugged since the 0.2.0 launch and doesn’t spawn mirrors at all. Breach... I still don’t understand why it’s necessary to drop splinters one by one. Same with Delirium actually, except it doesn't drop that many of them, since it’s bugged. I want to enjoy this game. I want to log in and feel excited to run another map. But right now, I’m just not. It all just feels like busywork, with no real sense of progression or reward at the end. Last edited by matioss123#3517 on Apr 16, 2025, 8:34:07 AM Last bumped on Apr 16, 2025, 7:50:31 AM
