Xp penalty on dying and a possible way to make it a little less will crushing
|
I understand the idea behind the xp penalty, I am not a fan of the mechanic but I can live with it
That being said, losing 30% xp on a annoying boss in a waystone is really infuriating. Spending hours to accumulate all that xp just to lose it in the span of 2 minutes is not fun. My idea to improve that would be : Give us "rested xp" on the portion that we lost. Like 2x XP until we reach the point we're we died. Thank you. I'd just it make so you only lose xp on losing all your portals, at least then it's more likely a consequence of juicing your maps beyond your builds ability. And early endgame you can mostly avoid it, for newer players who are trying to ease into mapping, instead of immediately pummeling them with an expensive loss.

Just let the player collect their body and get all (or most) of the XP back.
This is not a difficult problem to solve, but the fact GGG have left it as-is for so long suggests they don't see a problem and like wasting player time. |

I agree with both of these solutions.
There a multiple way to help with this. But like Headsoup said, I think they like the way it's implemented atm, which to me is just an aberration. I lost 60% worth of my level this morning, and my build is solid. It's just that when you have to deal with exploding corpses 3 screens away from the rare or 3 fire "lazers" at the same time, there is not much you can do. |
