Why market this as an ARPG

It's kind of asinine that you guy's want this slow and methodical gameplay in an ARPG. If I put hours into my build, have the knowledge and luck then I should be able to become a god on just about any class. You guy's released a game that let us achieve godly DPS and then completely flipped the switch. I could understand if this was your first time doing a game like this but you could've used POE1 as a reference to see what was possible. Why not just add more content, slightly dial back the bugged builds and call it a day. #savemysparkweaver

this idea of an "ARPG" being a very small set of guidelines that must be conformed to needs to stop.

I hate to use the Dark Souls reference again (since it is so loathed by many players), but is Dark Souls not an Action Role Playing Game? Like there can be a spectrum.

If poe1 new league didn't get delayed so much i feel like there wouldn't be so much backlash.
The label could be incorrect but I guess I'm referring to the specific genre of top-down Diablo style games.

I think you made that clear, and the point stands. I don't know where you guys came up with this definition of ARPG that I keep seeing touted on this forum including all sorts of bizarrely arbitrary constraints on pacing and mechanics but it's definitely not a widely-accepted definition and I think it's telling that most of the "addons" you folks have included in your definition happen to line up very nicely so all the things you personally like are included and the changes you're unhappy with are excluded.

An Action RPG is any RPG that features real-time combat (as opposed to turn- or menu-driven) and emphasizes combat performance and build optimization over exploration and narrative storytelling. That's about the extent of "must haves" before a game fits the genre.

All good! We're allowed to disagree. I myself didn't play POE1, I feel as though I should state that. So I'm just speaking from what I've experienced on POE2 and other similar games.
Spark was beyond stupid. All players should have known this was coming.
Some ARPGs are slow, like Grim Dawn. Grim Dawn however is mostly a story-mode game. Sure, there is an endgame component but I'd wager the majority of players don't really delve that far. It's a fun game for a once through play.

I'd like to think that PoE2 will become more streamlined for the seasonal live-service format. The upcoming changes are a good start.

Grim Dawn is the best arpg out there imo. But there is a lack of endgame. You just replay the campaign over and over. I'm hoping poe2 turns more into grim dawn style instead of poe1.5
The definition of "ARPG" isn't just Diablo 3/4 and POE1, where you zoom through content and 1-tap everything on the way.

Only because POE2 is slower than the games above it doesen't meant that it isn't an ARPG...quite opposite, for me and many ARPG fans for more than 2 decades now it's by far the best ARPG on the market. :)

Othervise it also wouldn't be allowed to market Diablo 1 f.e. as ARPG, bcs it's even slower than POE2.;)

Than you have to login becasue with 0.2.0 the game praticaly goes this way and tries to get rid of the POE1 style (means the boring zoom whole screen clear playstyle). ;)

They got rid of most of such builds and more into Grim Dawn playstlye...ofc some still exists but I simply do myself a favor and avoid them, for the sake of having a challange even in endgame....the best thing is to simply avoid any guide and experiment by yourself. :)
