Auto-aim range (couch coop)

It seems that because you can walk full-screen away from an enemy in couch coop (ie. your character isn’t glued to centre screen), auto-aim drops much more frequently. If you happen to be strafing or walking back, your shots will go off into nothing until you walk back in range. This is frustrating compared to mouse and keyboard where you can continue to click on the target no matter how far away you are from them.

Is it possible to allow auto-aim range to include the full extent of what’s visible on screen during couch coop?
