Basic-sauce 'character creator' (no dev resources required)

Taken from the above thread. The TLDR is that it's a request for a basic D4-esque 'character creator' that can take whatever is the easiest path possible. I'm a dev and I know a skin colour changer and a hair changer - and a face changer - will not require significant work. Because they don't need new armour models. Likewise, you can already pick any of the current characters and make them whatever class you want to them to be. Except you don't get to specify their starting point in the 'skill tree' (which is essential to be economical with skill allocation). And you don't get to 'pick' their class, so that you get the asendencies you want. These are simple things, technically, to implement, and would solve dozens of problems GGG currently has re: their 'locked in' characters. I'm just going to copy one of my main points from it, because there's a lot of discussion there: *** My computer's Alienware OLED 32" screen vividly displays every detail on the character. And I don't think that's a particularly big screen. If you play these games in big screen beta VR in particular (which is great), you can see every pixel in fine detail. But even a regular screen such as the above, it's clear enough. The game is if anything too zoomed in. Lastly, it's a game that literally builds its whole revenue stream on the cosmetics applied to the character, which you appear to suggest is so minuscule that you 'wouldn't even notice'. I mean, tell that to the people who are spending hundreds on altering their character's appearance. Then there's 'vanishing dye'. It might not be available yet in POE2, but of course it will be if it was an idea that sold in the last game. You don't vanish your armour and so on if you don't want to look at what's underneath. Either way, the request is not for fine detail. It's to change the larger cosmetic aspects - skin (which covers your entire body), hair (again, think of vanishing dye - it's basically a replacement helmet in this case) and facial features. It may seem a trifle to you, but amazingly enough you're not the only person with a consciousness on planet earth. Others can have different views. While I doubt the company will implement the option, to me it's stopping me from wanting to return to the game. That's just a fact. They can do with it as they please. These are just words. Lastly, as previously stated, it's technically trivial to add this feature. You can already specialise in any of the 'classes' in the game for any character. Issue is you have to go about it in a roundabout way. If they just unlocked the ability to specify your starting path on the node tree and also the class you want (so you can gain the relevant ascendencies), that's all they need to do.
