Game isn't responding on start-up

I've been playing for a bit now, got 188 hours on this game and never ran into any issues before this. Today, I tried to start the game, and it opens on a black screen that doesn't respond. It does not crash and will stay on that black screen indefinitely if I don't force the game to close. I've tried verifying the integrity of the game files, I've tried reinstalling the game, restarting my PC, changing graphics settings manually through the game folder, etc, and nothing seems to work. I'm honestly at a loss for what to do at this point. This is happening on PC, Windows 11.

If reinstall doesn't work, it sounds like there is third-party nonsense going on. Antivirus blocked files, firewall, or something else is interfering with it launching. And if this is through Steam, could be something on the Steam client side of things.
Pick one of those things and start taking away factors until you find a way to launch the game. Safe mode with networking is my go-to for AV/firewall issues, or manually disable them briefly. Standalone launcher can rule out Steam issues potentially. If none of those things, you can double check PoE's client log but I doubt it will have any useful information as the game doesn't fully launch. Then you'll have to look at Windows Event Viewer and trying to diagnose any errors in there. |

" Yeah unfortunately nothing seemed to work. I closed off pretty much every app and got the same results, turned off firewall and anti-virus temporarily, and got nothing. I'm not sure what to look for in the logs, but it didn't seem to have anything unusual at first glance. No idea what's going on... For some reason, sometimes restarting allows me to get to the log in screen (the initial cutscene plays out normally, and then the log in screen shows up). However, it quickly freezes up there too, and then if I try to open it again it's back to square 0... |

Also I just now noticed that I accidentally posted this to the PoE1 bug reports forum - I was, to be honest, rather frustrated at the time of posting and must've missed that detail. Wonder if I should delete this and repost or if there's a way to move the thread
