Farming for Anglers Plait

I'm not sure if I can get the anglers plait unique ring with my build so need feedback.

Surfcaster. Fishing rod. With corrupted sliverpinch. Chance to flee gem at +63%.

With surfcaster all elec is converted to cold and freeze. So is using lightning & freeze unable to trigger chance to flee?

I get the drop is Uber rare but is this a lost cause and will never drop since I'm freezing enemies?

May need GGG input to how chance to flee works with cold and freeze.
