The map system is tedious, unrewarding and is just a mess.
I have a bit of time before the race and have been talking this game over with friends. The maps system just needs an overhaul. It is tedious, offers no real reward and just doesn't work.
In order to run a map, you have to not only get the right map, whether it be a 16 map that is like 1 in 10 chance of corruption, experience etc. You also have to prep your atlas. This is an action game. Most your time is spent out of the action after around lvl 82. There is no reward for doing the atlas. The atlas system is a scaler that does not add much to the story, loot drops or experience. Sure you can put points in like breaches and have more spawns which is more drops, but it comes at a cost. It isn't a reward, it is a trade off. You take on a lot of risk and dont realize much reward. There needs to be added levels of experience, gear levels and some kind of a story to follow that makes the atlas systems engaging. The maps themselves are a mess. They have no flow, they are hard to navigate and I am tired of explaining how to maximize the atlas to new players. They shouldn't have to ask, the game should be better. The random generator for the map makes people feel like they are not part of the same world. My map is not the same as my friends. I can't tell them how to get to home, or we can't just work on the same map. There is no sense of accomplishment when you open the map or do nodes. It is just a map and that sux. The maps scale, navigation, visibility, regions and icons all suck. Explaining the corruption, burning tower, realm gate, towers, regions etc. to anyone just sucks. And it makes me cringe when having to do it repeatedly. Please, consider revising the endgame and losing the randomly generated maps, upping the 16 key drop rates, make higher rewards for tougher areas, make the atlas nodes make sense, improve the navigation on the map and make everyone be part of the same world. I would also like to be in maps killing longer than I am making maps or planning routes. P.S. More party bonus. Make uniques that have skills level with the character (Like Grants 1 skill per 5 player levels to Malice). Make good uniques that drop in high level maps that make you want to do them. Also, consider chaining maps or being able to create a sequence of maps that keep you in the action and out of the load screens. And act 2...............
