Really hate the Idol system

I love the new ascendancy but the new Idol system just super tedious. Grinding this league is not fun. I love the last league when I can have up to 3 map passives to try.

Please do not keep Idol map passive system in the future. It is costing me a lot of time just to farm them and sort them. I do not feel my character is really progressing in end game. I got whole bunch of random idols.

The map passive tree makes me feel my character is really progressing.

Too bad I can't enjoy the new ascendancies. I just got my first divine drop at level 92. sigh

No worries it won't go core.
While it is harder to set up a farm (because I try only using self found idols) it makes me approach the game from a different angle. Normally I would do big fat juicy gardens at this point in the league but this time I do not.
I like it but not more than the atlas for a couple reasons.

First is the atlas feels a bit more natural for progression.

Second is these idols are completely broken. Some of the shit you are able to do is so powercreep its beyond anything we've seen.

I dont even think affliction can stand up against what you can do with these. At least with affliction you had to get a good wildwood, which didnt happen every map.

Every map you run here is guaranteed with the mechanics you want at the magnitude you want. Along with stacking things that are hilarious like 45 syndicate intelligence at the end of a single map.

Its a nice change of pace even for only one event/league. Im a fan.

first and last post for me; if campaigning is more enjoyable than mapping, I'd say that's a critical failure.
whoever allowed this krangeled mess to be released needs to be demoted.

it's a fanatic way to slow/kill mapping and im reasonably confident it's ultimately put POE1 to bed for massive amount of players.

anyway good post, i too enjoy having blight kicking off due to a mis-click while in a temple.

bring back the atlas passives

the idol system challenges most of the players to ignore events in maps, which they fail of course like they always do cause ignoring stuff isn`t easy.

having a passive tree for the perfect endgame setup for free was a bad idea from the start. of course it looks impressive on game presentations (OOOOOOh, LOOOK, ANOTHER SKILL TREE, SO COMPLEX GAME!!!1) but in reality it gives players what they want for free, they only have to level up.

games shouldn`t give players anything and comfortably for free, they should have to work for it and not everybody should have the perfect setup from copying setups from others
age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Nonsense, games should give tools for players to HAVE FUN.
If players are having fun they will stick around. If they’re not they will get tired and leave and I still don’t know how game companies don’t realise that.

Just like GGG, I think you fail to understand what makes PoE 1 the best ARPG. That is AGENCY. The ability to pick and choose what you want to do and what level of difficulty you want, on top of a myriad of builds that just feel good to kill monsters on.

You take away any of that and you lose what makes Path of Exile, Path of Exile. You might as well play D4 with forced content and boring, meaningless drops.

There is a reason Affliction is the best league for player retention: not only 30 days out but 60+. It made mapping actually rewarding for most players instead of a small handful juicing at the top end after the div apocalypse to make room for Sanctum and T17s. While pulling people out of the more steady profit farms, they might not really enjoy. So people who loved farming that stuff also got rewarded more for their time due to lack of competition from the highest div/hr players.

Removing the agency was a bad call. Making killing monsters the least rewarding thing in the game is a bad call. Thinking needing to be miserable 99% of the time so you can then know when you are having fun for the other 1% of the time is a bad call.

D2R is not the most popular ARPG for a reason. Trying to bring back the "glory days" of everyone running around on the same item-find build as everyone did in D2 OG with their trainered character is not going to make for a good game in 2025.
