“The specified character does not exist” keep getting message when trying to trade

As the title states. Every time I try to trade with someone, it says the character doesn’t exist. Seriously wtf?
I’ve typed everything correctly, and checked everything else. Can’t fix it. Would prefer not to play involuntary SSF😞

Just to make sure, is it an issue when trying to invite them to your party?

Some people have had trouble with Phrecia and Settlers, because people playing Phrecia don't always know to update their tools or double check their searches to make sure they're searching for items in the correct league.

It’s when I try to whisper anyone to trade. I find them on trade, and when I reach out it says their character doesn’t exist.
I’m searching in Phrecia (softcore). I couldn’t find a way to tell what league they are in 🤷‍♂️

Please if there’s anyone that can help with this, I’d really appreciate it. I just came back after about 5(?) years to see what’s new, and this is really disappointing. Although I do get a lot more done when I’m not playing PoE, so maybe it’s for the best 🤷‍♂️
