Oh my GODDDD, another one-shot...
After sacrificing about 10 mil DPS to get spell suppression and a few other defensive boosts to my character, I've been cruisin' towards level 98 pretty seamlessly.
SILLY ME. I forgot the PoE Gods force you to get one-shot every now and then to artificially keep you engaged... (Even though all it does it make me want to quit this ridiculous game.) Okay. So what don't I know? What was my cue to be wary about this guy? ![]() Why did this guy one-shot me TWICE? I even had Arcane Cloak up. ![]() ![]() This game is so artificial, dude. This guy's fucking RANGED AUTO-ATTACKS were one-shotting me. I only killed him when I could do short bursts of DPS when he aimed his attention at my Golems. This is why people turn your game into a meme by stacking 500 mil screenwide DPS. Nobody likes dealing with forced one-shots. Going down 20% of my exp bar at 97 really sucks, and I know it'll only get a hundred times more brutal at 98 and 99. Fuck, dude. Like, how can I go several days without even seeing my Life bar move, and then this guy's auto-attacks one-shot me??? It's so fucking INCONSISTENT, GOD, FIX YOUR GAME LMAO?!? Okay, back to the grind, I guess... (Which is exactly what they want me to say, and why they force the one-shots like this...) Edit: On second thought... I don't even want to play anymore, lmao. Shit just kills my willpower. I'm guessing what happened was he got Power Charges and then crit my ass off. I normally avoid map mods with crit chance, but I overlooked the Power Charge mod. But that doesn't change the fact that it feels like the game just wasted my entire day. I thought this was supposed to be a video game... Did everyone lose sight of that??? The exp loss feels exaggerated; if I wanted to play Hardcore, I would have clicked that option. BuT i GuEsS iT's My FauLt FoR GeTTinG LaX abOuT iNspEcTinG thE MaP mODs... (Map mods, aka, random lines of text designed purely to be currency sinks as you are forced to reroll based on whatever lines of text you arbitrarily chose for your character to counter or not.) Okay, I need to stop typing, I'm just ranting, and with PoE, it WILL be endless. Last edited by ShadyC#1006 on Feb 27, 2025, 9:18:31 PM Last bumped on Feb 28, 2025, 10:59:58 PM

I know, the random one-shots are shitty sometimes. all I can tell you is that boss is boosted because he's ghosted. There's no real way to see how much extra damage he technically does other than if he's ghosted, perhaps portal out if you're preserving xp. If I were playing this map and also protecting my xp, I would have bailed on the encounter. And yes sometimes this game's buffed bosses or some archnemesis rares might spit out ridiculous damage.
If I may suggest one thing, consider carrying one of these omens. |

Did you hover over the Searing Exarch icon over your skill bar to review the downsides you'd taken?
Might've hurt badly if you'd taken downsides like -chaos res and boss gains phys as chaos or something. Especially if you're using Wrath of the Cosmos and doubled the downside effects. |

" I have had to learn to weigh the consequences since any one of those can come with a downside that makes it a lot easier to die. It also doesn't help that its possessed --- because not all possessions are the same, one may be easy to steamroll while another may put the fear of god into you, especially depending on the bosses abilities and if they got augmented Yep, totally over league play.

" I forgot to include that in displaying the situation, but nah, there are some things I don't take, like me losing resists (although exposure doesn't take me below my cap). Chances are, he only had like... bonus armor and evasion, fire and chaos resist, and maybe MAYBE he was doing extra fire damage (I have 90% fire res), but usually I take Exarch Minion buffs instead of boss buffs anyway (seeking those currency quantity drops). I've thought about those omens, lol. Maybe I will. I may also consider bailing on things when my exp gets high, but that feels bad. |

DUDE!!
This fucking game... I swear to god. ![]() You can even see how it was a one-shot with my mana, LMAO. I'm sorry, but an instantaneous explosion for well over 60k damage (if not 120k, if it was a spell, LMAO) is just out of line. FIX YOUR GAAAAAME. Enemies only have "Blasphemer's Touch," by the way. Does absolutely nothing to me, I am curse-immune. ![]() How am I NOT supposed to feel like I'm being scammed? Like little forced one-shots are built into the game, that actually deal infinity damage to force you to "stay engaged," and that's why we have no death recap? How am I not supposed to feel that way, running around with 60-110k EHP and still getting one-shot by INSTANT explosions? Christ almighty, man. Absolute scam. Maybe I'm just supposed to make some off-screen wander like everyone else, if wanding is even still the off-screen meta these days. Turn this game into the joke that it is, since that seems to be what GGG wants me to do. If I made this game, and I had a passion for it, I would HATE that players feel pigeonholed into building pure offense and memeing the game with 500 mil AoE offscreen DPS builds. I would want players to actually feel like they have build freedom. But hey, that's just me, I guess. Fuck, man. In the amount of time I spent typing this rant, I coulda got back 1% of the exp I just instantly lost from GGG's Fun Tax. Fuck it. I'm gonna stock up on the troll exp omen. This game just aint good enough not to. Last edited by ShadyC#1006 on Feb 28, 2025, 9:13:17 PM

Exp loss omens are 1 Divine per, LMAO. Looks like everyone has decided that this game isn't good enough.
