Idols Would Only Be Fun In Private Leagues

The complaints surrounding the Idols system are valid, but it's important to realize that the current context in which we have Idols isn't the only possible context. Idols definitely suck in Trade Leagues, where cabals get to have fun immediately by sharing Idols with each other to line up juicy combinations, while solo players have to pay an opportunity cost of buying Idols instead of upgrades for their character. Solo players are massively screwed by this system.

Since the only way to have any real fun with Idols is to play in a cabal, the only way that Idols should be implemented is in Private Leagues. The higher juice ceiling seems like it would be very fun, but only in that context.
