Brainstorming Thread - Create your own Skill for PoE2

I thought it would be fun for a community thread for brainstorming new potential skills for PoE2. I'm curious what ideas people come up with. Feel free to submit yours below!

I'll go first, here are my ideas (one per category- spell, minion, buff, warcry and melee strike):

Singularity Sphere
Spell, Projectile
Slow-moving sphere of darkness that is launched forward inflicting chaos damage over time and pulls close enemies toward center due to an intense gravitational field.

Animate Weapon
Spell, Minion
Bring back spell from PoE1. Animates weapon on the ground as a flying minion.

Poisonous Skin
Spell, Persistent Buff
Your skin is covered with prickly thorns that secretes a poisonous substance. Enemies that attack you are poisoned and you gain increased physical thorns damage.

Bloodthirsty Cry
Warcry, Duration
Performs a bloodcurdling warcry, causing all physical damage inflicted to nearby enemies to bleed by same amount. Bleeding duration is doubled and every instance of bleeding is treated as aggravated.

Double Strike
Melee, Strike
Requires two one-handed maces
Attack with both mace weapons, striking two enemies at once (or one enemy twice). Double Strike doubles your attack speed.

Shrapnel Grenade

Fires a grenade that deals physical damage with a high chance to cause bleeding.

Load Burred Rounds

Loads a clip of burred rounds. Deals extra damage against bleeding targets, and causes existing bleeding to be aggravated.

Load Barbed Bolt

Loads a barbed bolt. Refreshes bleeding on targets hit before consuming it, causing extra damage and that damage to be dealt instantly in a small area of effect.

I have two skills I made for PoE1 a long time ago that could be cool with some tweaks.


Runic Strike
Strike an opponent applying one of 3 runes types. The type of rune applied is based on the highest Elemental damage type dealt. Each rune that is applied to the target amplifies and adds new the effects of other existing runes.
- Requirements: Any Melee Weapon
- Attack Speed: 80% of base
- Adds (2–78) to (5–98) Prismatic Elemental Damage.
- Effectiveness of Added Damage: 121–176%.
Each rune creates a different animation based on their type.
Each rune causes Exposure for 10% of their elemental type.
When a Frost Rune is applied to a target suffering another Rune apply Brittle.
When a Lightning Rune is applied to a target suffering from another apply Sapped.
When a Fire Rune is applied to a target suffering from another Rune apply Scorched.
Initial attacks before a rune is applied will create their normal ailments. If this skill is combined with an effect which already applies one of these effects the normal version is applied instead.

Cascade of Steel
Strike an opponent unleashing splintering steel shards behind them. Each Shard projects in a cone and is considered a melee attack. Maximum cone distance is affected by Melee Strike Range.
- Requirements: Any Non-Axe Weapon
- Attack Speed: 100% of base
- Effectiveness of Added Damage: 125–205%
- Adds (3–113) to (5–169) Physical Damage.
40% Chance to apply Bleed.
40% Chance to Impale.
Targets Bleeding from this skill suffer 25% increased damage taken from Impale.
Targets Impaled from this skill suffer 25% increased damage taken from Bleeding.

BS Mechanics Immunity

-Immune to BS random one-shots from off screen
-Immune to BS on-death effects
-Immune to BS unbalanced or over-tuned rare affix mechanics and combinations on rare mobs
-Immune to being stun-locked and perma-frozen since charms are useless
-Immune to bad RNG
-Immune to all the negative BS that rolls on maps
-Immune to BS XP death penalty
-Immune to any BS negative effects of any mechanics that does not respect the players time.

Tracking shot
You are targeting a monster and press this skill. As monster moves, skill accumulates power as long as you are keeping mouse cursor on that monster. Press again to unleash powerful AoE shot, which will do almost no damage if monster didn't move or you didn't track him.

Wind push
Quick skill where you are targeting monster and choosing direction to push him, monster will be pushed in this direction. If monster collides with other monster, both get damage. Or if monster hits wall, it takes damage as well. Can move your poison clouds or segment of your firewall.

Reflect projectile
Charge this skill and when you release it, for brief moment reflects projects in front of you to your aim direction. Requires some minimum charging time, otherwise will not work.

Astral banish
AoE skill, for few seconds removes monsters from the world, then they back.

Sun bunny
For 5 seconds, AoE circle is moving fast across the screen. You can click on that circle and press skill again, then if you didn't miss, it will release ray of sun which will continuously burn enemies inside and last 2-3 seconds. You have 3 shots after activating skill.

Armageddon
Fireballs randomly falling from the sky for the duration, but they can damage you as well.

And I would also make burning ground, as well as cold and electric ground apply to monsters too. Also, fire AoE spells applied to burning ground have significantly larger area, same with cold and electric.

I like the general idea of an elemental melee skill, but instead of having runes in skill which might cause confusion, why not call it "Prismatic Strike"? Seems name would fit the fantasy well.

A banishment type spell would be great for crowd control.
