Urgent Complaint: Overhaul Needed for PoE2’s 6-Man Rule and Loot Drop System

Currency drops rate severely tweaked again by the developers and no mention in any patch notes.

Subject: Urgent Complaint: Overhaul Needed for PoE2’s 6-Man Rule and Loot Drop System

Dear PoE2 Development Team,

It is now 2025, and I am beyond frustrated with the direction PoE2’s loot and group systems are taking. The recent changes—specifically the persistent nerfing of divine drop rates, Perfect Jeweler's Orbs, and other rare items—combined with the enforced 6-man rule are unacceptable. These updates force players into prolonged XP grinding at the expense of meaningful loot acquisition, completely undermining what once made the game exciting and accessible.

Let me be clear: the 6-man rule, which rewards group play by increasing both the quantity and quality of loot drops, is fundamentally flawed. Not every player can—or even wants to—form a perfectly synchronized team of six dedicated members. Solo players and small groups, such as families playing together, are repeatedly left at a disadvantage. The system inadvertently prioritizes teams of greedy individuals who game the system, leaving honest, casual, or family players with scant rewards despite their efforts.

I find it outrageous that:

Loot Distribution is Skewed: The current setup allows a 6-man team to receive inflated loot drops that are then often monopolized by just a couple of players, while solo players or smaller groups are forced to grind endlessly for the same rewards.
Exclusion of Casual Players: A family of four—a kid and a parent—should be able to enjoy the game without having to join an 18+ guild where they risk being harassed by players more interested in exploiting the system than actually enjoying the game.
Lack of Transparency: The continuous tweaks to loot drop rates are implemented without proper explanation in the patch notes. This lack of communication only fuels frustration and mistrust within the community.
Misplaced Incentives: The 6-man rule should only provide an XP boost. Loot, both in terms of quantity and quality, should remain individual to each player, influenced solely by the modifiers on their own character. The current system is taking advantage of dedicated players and favoring third-party sell sites that operate with perfectly coordinated 6-man teams.
In its current state, PoE2 is at risk of alienating a broad swath of its player base. If you continue down this path, you will only create an environment that caters to niche players and high-end third-party groups, ultimately stifling organic growth and the enjoyment of the game. It is imperative that you reconsider and overhaul these mechanics before the game's full release.

I strongly urge you to:

Reassess and remove the 6-man loot bonus system for group play.
Ensure that loot drops remain fair and individual-focused, with only XP benefits tied to group participation.
Communicate changes transparently in future patch notes so the community can understand and adapt to the new rules.
If these issues are not addressed promptly, you risk driving away not only the dedicated veteran players but also the casual and family-oriented gamers who are essential to a vibrant community. I trust you will take this feedback seriously and implement the necessary changes to create a balanced, fair, and enjoyable gaming experience for everyone.

Sincerely,

B

The drop rates of lvl 20 Skill gems and perfect jeweler's orbs are absolutely insane. 300 hours and not a single drop.

Why even have them in the game if you're not going to let people advance their skills to lvl 20 naturally? Such asinine gatekeeping.

you need t17 or t18 lvl mobs for that. i've seen somewhere that they drop in simulacrums too
agree
I agree with this, the only thing that should change in parties, is an increase in enemies, and even then, I don't play in a group for the rewards, i play in a group for fun. It's fun to just play games with your friends imagine that.

So i guess imo maybe more enemies for parties, but none of this increased hit points on white mobs. One of the worst things to do is make individual enemies do more damage, as if we've got a shared defenses and health pool in my party bc we definitely don't.

The most ironic thing about this, is that there are many items or support style gems, i don't know anyone who uses them and on top of that, if you know how to bot all or some of your accounts through scripting, bc of those abilities and items the game allows you to make the perfect aura bots and item rarity bots to follow you around.

i try, as much as possible, to only run level t17, t18 content, and i play mostly solo. Have never seen a level 20 skill orb but have at least 10 of the top jewel thingies. Boss tree is +4, and focus on boss nodes to maintain waystone drops.

i agree that its insane they're so rare. I have a bajillion 18 and 19s (so much that i bought a 2nd skill stash tab bc i cant stop myself from picking them up), wish i could refoge them up

OP:

i had no idea this was a thing, so in big groups people get more stuff? oof

Yep, more loot, better loot, more currency, better currency.

It was addressed in poe 1 and the developers kept the game niche

Players came to play poe 2, new players, and now they left.

I doubt that things will change, but at least I'm trying.
The way I know how is to never buy a MTX package or bundle. Stash tabs I will buy, but as far as end game for them, since end game for my family sucks, then their end game pocket will suck.

And I'll let people know not to play the game as it's only a POE 1 copy.

Thanks for getting into the thread and into the fight.

Many public group runs—those you join solely for XP—are being exploited by players hoarding loot tags.

They're taking advantage of new players and the 6-man loot rules, with some even claiming they weren't aware of these exploitative practices. Instead of joining public groups just for XP, consider playing the game in a way that suits your style.

Meanwhile, third-party sellers like Niche Greed are snapping up all the loot, leaving genuine players struggling for even a few chaos orbs.

Now you're informed.
