Unlinking Steam Account and Poe Acct.

Came back to PoE And accidentally linked an old poe Account to my steam. now all of my MTX and stash tabs are gone. I would like to play the event but I am not sure if unlinking my account will cause a character loss. Can anyone clarify while I wait for support email to get back to me?
