Why can't we use expedition artifacts from stash?

It seems odd that to spend expedition artifacts and exotic coins I have to remove them from my stash and have them in my inventory to use at the vendor.

Functionality obviously exists for things like trade and currency exchange to read and interact with items from your stash. Addmittedly this is a fairly mild inconvenience, but it would be a nice QoL to not have to find all your coins and artifacts of X type every time you want to interact with an expedition vendor.
