Legacy of Phrecia could have had us tinkering with the map device parts
I made a post in Reddit, but it got stuck for 3 days waiting for a mod approval, and that often results in very low visibility for the post by missing fresh or something. Not the first time this happens to me, and probably not the last. I don't really mind about that, as long as GGG sees it. Thus I made this post just to bring it up to GGG's attention enough, that they see it. I often rather made posts in Reddit, because image attachments is a lot easier.
The link to the original post in question: https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/1ioh6z7/suggestion_replace_idols_with_gears_gogs_levers/ Concept: Gears, gogs, levers and others in the Map Device storage area instead of Idols. ![]() While I'm aware GGG probably won't put time into this, I still wanted to bring it up. This is a post of "what could have been", in a friendly manner. As a future custom league option, I would make it as intricate to the game as possible. My own personal perception of the map device is not of a body of worship, but as an impossible device that fools the eyes, and has intricate depths to it one cannot fanthom. Thus I feel that instead of Idols, it would be a lot cooler to find pieces of the map device in the Atlas, then work out how to put them into the device, with interactable buttons, levers, sextants and voidstones to boot. Here's a list of suggestions how each part could be different: - Rusted bolts are blockers, which are removed when you complete your Atlas. They could have different numbers and symbols etched onto their face to indicate the completion bonus. - Fuses that have a chance to blow on activation, and no map is consumed nor portal opened if it does. The map device will shizzle out mid animation. Players will have to take the blown fuse out for the map device to work again. The broken fuse is trash, not worth anything. Fuses implicitly increases the map explicit modifiers. - Gears and gogs increases mod efficiency of neighbouring parts, up to 200% - Levers draw power from neighbouring parts, reducing their efficiency and increasing its own, when flipped on. - Routers are like levers, but they direct efficiency from all adjacent parts to one particular side. - Lights slightly increases suffix mod efficiency from every part when turned blue, or for prefix mod efficiency when turned red. - No 1x1 sized pieces drops ever, but instead can appear from the map device itself through some invisible calculus system, when the math meets with any 2 interconnected parts in the Atlas. These hidden 1x1 pieces are Sextants, Golden Gears and Voidstones. You can toggle them on or off once they are visible. PS: Imagine if you really had to haul several 5x2 pieces of GGG logos from a maps. PS2: While we are not getting this suggestion for the now, it could be an improvement option for creating another custom event for the players in the future. Edits: Added few more items to parts, and made them more readable Last edited by Celd#2630 on Feb 18, 2025, 2:44:03 AM Last bumped on Feb 17, 2025, 11:57:10 AM
