Si I've been playing a while. Casually, with friends. They are the "Go to Icy-Veins (pick one) find a build and copy it verbatim players. I am more lose and freestyle. So best in town stats? Never. But I usually get by.
Made it to level 38 or so; maybe 39. Was stuck at the Act 2 boss, some one shot mechanic was killing me. Finally asked someone to take me through the boss. Act 3 was easy to deal with (I was more overpowered is probably correct). But having a slow moment I went back and tried the Act 2 Trials of Skehemma content. I had tried it back at level 25 - whenever I cleared Act 2 except for the Dreadnaught boss roadblock. It was easy even then, but had some odd mechanics that seemed, well, inconsistent. This round through I basically ran through everything, nothing in the set of trials even dented my health. But at the end I think I ran out of honor. At least my health was at 100% and the trial ended without notice. Just bang, dead. Pretty sure I had 300 honor remaining at that point, but I wasn't watching it that close. So I ran it again, this time watching honor more closely. Again, nothing in the several silly pointless trials hit hard enough to notice. One pair of rares together caused my health to blip. No potions needed. Then a couple of steps later, I am looking for the last rare in one of the groups to fill the vase ... Out pops a slow moving rare, it reaches out a finger, in slow motion no less, it touches me and I am dead. About as long as it took to blink, not warnings, no health drops, just instant death. I uninstalled the game. That level of mechanic is so stupid it is just as pointless as randomly having a lightning bolt come out of the sky and zap you and forcing a full Act reset. There were games like that not too long ago. People thought they were hard, too. A one shot lurking in a random location I sort of get; but that doesn't make the game hard or difficult; it makes it no longer enjoyable. Between that mechanic and a boss that can't be killed except by playing a staged streamer character with very specific traits regardless of level isn't fun: it is copy and paste and then luck whether or not your gear drops as good a roll as the streamer (who got the gear handed to them by the game company). Sorry - I bought the preview - I was hoping for something better; but this is now in the fool me once, shame on you category. We won't be seeing that fool me twice event. It is true in this game now: player get one shot killed by monster, or one shot kill monster.
