Feedback on SSFHC Death Mechanics Adjustment for Solo Self-Found Players
Dear Grinding Gear Games Team,
As a dedicated SSFHC player of Path of Exile 2, I would like to provide feedback regarding a critical pain point in the current death mechanics that significantly impacts the SSFHC experience. Issue Description: During my recent SSFHC playthrough with a Blood Mage character, I was aware that upon death, my character would be migrated to the standard SSF league. However, I was deeply frustrated to discover that all items, currency, and even side quest progress were reset upon migration. This design contradicts the core philosophy of SSF players. Community Perspective: For SSF-focused players, Hardcore mode is primarily a personal challenge tracker rather than a fundamentally different game mode. The essence of SSF lies in its pure solo, no-trading experience. HC is simply a way to measure how far we can push our SSF journey. When an SSFHC character dies, most players (myself included) wish to continue progressing in standard SSF with our accumulated resources and progress, rather than having everything erased. Requested Changes: 1.Preserve All SSFHC Progress Upon Death Migration: Retain items, currency, and side quest completion status when transferring to standard SSF.Only reset progress that is strictly HC-specific (e.g., HC leaderboard status). 2.Acknowledge SSF Players' Motivations: SSF players value persistent progression over HC's "all-or-nothing" approach. The current reset mechanic nullifies weeks of effort and disincentivizes engaging with HC mode. This issue has been widely discussed within the SSF community, and I urge GGG to reconsider this design. A simple toggle option to retain SSF progress post-HC death would dramatically improve the experience for solo players without affecting other game modes. Thank you for your dedication to improving Path of Exile. I hope this feedback helps create a more inclusive system for SSF enthusiasts. Best regards Last bumped on Feb 15, 2025, 10:05:58 PM
