Endgame crafting in PoE2 as a solo player, some ideas and concept Omens

My Thoughts on the Omen System & Proposed New Omens

Controversial opinion, but I really really like the Omen system. I don’t really think they need to make these omens cheaper, because mirror crafters will still buy insane amounts of them with their budget, unless they’re way too common to the point the supply beats the demand (which would not be a good thing, because they’re actually pretty powerful).

In PoE1 we had beast crafting, synthesis crafting, meta crafting, grave crafting, eldritch crafting, harvest crafting, expedition crafting, fossil crafting, etc. The list goes on endlessly. Ultimately, it was just a lot of ways to reach the same goal, and what made you valuable was your ability to find the cheapest or lowest EV cost ratio to get there.

This meant individual players had the opportunity to capitalize and profit off crafting knowledge – there were so many avenues to achieve things, that you could sell items for profit using low risk investments.

I will say this right now – the Omen system in PoE2 is incredibly powerful. The only item in PoE1 that compares is Hinekora’s Locks, which were like 60+ divine each (triple the price of any omen right now). It's a great system but it's a bit undercooked.

So, I don’t think the problem is the omens or their drop rate. I’m a solo player. I know I’m not gonna make the best bow in the world and I’m probably not gonna profit off investing 500 divines into a craft because my mirror bow has one or two suboptimal rolls.

That doesn’t matter. I’ve played this endgame A LOT, and I’ll tell you: having a bow to dump every divine I earn into as a project over months is what I’m having the most fun doing at this stage in EA.

When I finish it I’ll probably do a few free mirror services and maybe save up for a mirror myself if it bricks, but ultimately I want to corrupt it, because there’s a corrupt implicit/enchant that can give a +4 arrow dualstring – and if I hit that, I don’t care if I can’t mirror it. I’ll have the best bow in the game by far, even if it’s only one that I can use.

So what’s my solution to the lack of depth in crafting right now? Obviously more mechanics would be nice – a market for knowledge rather than a market based on EV calculations and investors.

I’m not sure how or if GGG intends to go that way, though I do like Omens. So I made a list of some conceptual omens I think would really patch some of the holes we’re missing right now:

Conceptual

Omen of Sinistral Divinity
While active, your next Divine Orb will reroll only prefix modifiers.

Omen of Dextral Divinity
While active, your next Divine Orb will reroll only suffix modifiers.

Omen of Chaotic Divinity
While active, your next Divine Orb will not reroll the numerical value of any modifiers and has a small chance to reroll the tier of a single random modifier, or do nothing.

Omen of Harmonious Divinity
While active, your next Divine Orb will swap the numerical values of two randomly selected modifiers. No modifier is removed or added; only their magnitudes exchange places.

Omen of Pristine Essence
While active, your next Greater Essence will replace an additional existing modifier of the same type.

Omen of Chaotic Essence
While active, your next Greater Essence will reroll the tiers of any existing modifiers of the same type.

Omen of Unbound Essence
While active, your next Greater Essence can be used on a Rare item.

Omen of Inverse Essence
While active, your next Essence will instead add a modifier that is of a different type.

Omen of Balanced Annulment
While active, your next Orb of Annulment will not remove any modifiers that an item has two or more of the same type (e.g., Lightning, Attack).

Omen of Preserved Annulment
While active, your next Orb of Annulment will be prevented from removing the lowest level modifier.

Omen of Undoing
While active, your next Chance Orb can be used on a Rare or Magic item has a chance to reset an item to a random rarity and remove all modifiers, or delete the item.

Omen of Influenced Forging
While active, your next use of the Reforge bench will combine the magnitudes of any explicit modifiers shared between all three items within the weight pool of the reforged item, and the increased magnitude of these explicit modifiers will additively stack with other individual items with influenced weighting pools.

Omen of Revered Exaltation
While active, your next Exalted Orb will not add a modifier within a weighting range of the most recently added modifier.

Omen of Inverse Annulment
While active, your next Orb of Annulment will replace a modifier with one recently removed by an Annulment Orb.

Omen of Corrupted Essence
While active, your next Greater Essence has a chance to corrupt the item and influence an Enchant / implicit modifier instead.

Omen of Basic Annulment
While active, your next Orb of Annulment will, instead of removing a modifier, downgrade a Rare item to a Magic item and remove all excess affixes at random.

Omen of Careful Erasure
While active, your next Chaos Orb will not add any modifiers equal to the item level.

Omen of Calculated Corruption
While active, your next Vaal Orb has a small chance to corrupt an item twice.

Omen of Dextral Identification
While active, your next Scroll of Wisdom will identify only suffix modifiers.

Omen of Sinistral Identification
While active, your next Scroll of Wisdom will identify only prefix modifiers.

Omen of Alchemical Empowerment
While active, your next Orb of Alchemy will treat each added modifier as if it was identified on a Tiered Rare item ranging from 2 to 5 for each modifier.

Omen of Twisted Chance
While active, your next Orb of Chance can be used on a Corrupted item and has a small chance to add, remove, or replace a corrupted enchant, or even delete the item.

Omen of Last Resort
While active, your next Orb of Chance can be used on a Corrupted item, and has a chance to purge any corruption and restore the item, or delete the item.

Omen of Unbound Divinity
While active, your next Divine Orb can be used on a Corrupted item and has a small chance to reroll only the numerical value of Enchanted implicit modifiers.

Omen of Ultimatum
While active, your next Mirror of Kalandra can be used on a Corrupted item, but has a chance to delete the item instead of copying it.

Maybe these ideas are stupid, but I think they patch out some of the missing things in crafting and add some cool interactions when combined. There’s obviously a lot more to be done in terms of crafting, but I think some more omens would be nice.

I don't want to touch on the drop rates too much because that issue is way too complex. Obviously these should be appropriately rare and expensive, but they give players a lot of ways to reach similar results when you combine three omens at once.

Additional Feedback:
PLEASE remove omens from the currency exchange. Let the mirror crafters organize buying them in bulk. Having more friction between trading individual omens will be good for the everyday player!

BUYING THESE ITEMS IN BULK NEEDS TO BE HARD.
It shouldn't be gatekept by mirror crafters placing 1000 buy orders on the currency exchange. It should be easy for players to get one or two to use themselves, but omens being on the currency exchange locks the prices.
