does it matter if i get the kills or not stacking item rarity

i wanna know if i need the gloves that make kills mine to make the build work or not i cant seem to find any info on the this topic. im trying to make a item rarity bot to play with friends.

When killing a monster, the rarity of the player who killed it is applied. With Gravebind Gloves, monsters killed around you will be considered killed by you and your rarity will be applied.
