what am I missing how did I get 1 tapped and still have full energy shield?

I had 1.6k hp and 2.7k es I die in less then a sec with my full es to 1 rare mob. that just doesn't make sense. if anyone knows what's that please tell me thanks.

In this game, "0 HP" is the condition of being "dead".
For example, any damages that pass through ES could get us killed if our HP reaches 0, like chaos damage or when wearing the item with mod like "% of damage taken bypasses ES" or Damage over Time bypasses your Energy Shield.

"Chaos Inoculation" passive grants immunity to chaos damage while setting the character's maximum HP to 1 and chaos resistance to 100%.

thanks for the answer but I had 1.6k hp under the es. I've never seen damage over time that can do that much damage way under 1 sec. I didn't even see what hit me.

I've stayed in that blue bubble with my other character with no care in the word and had no problems if that's what killed me. thank you for the answer I will keep that in mind.

That monster uses skills that slow characters greatly in its range, the water? swirl and the moving water bubble.

It is thought to be a living spirit, born out of resentment at the unreasonable punishments.

you are right now that I don't need this character I did test it and it will one shot you doesn't matter how much hp are defenses you have. a mob being able to one shot you doesn't matter how strong you get that seems like a weird game design to me but ok why not.

Well this particular bubble you can clearly see it and it also takes time before that one shot happens so that is definitely one of the nicer mechanics in the game.

Eventually you will be one shotting them anyways so you wont ever notice it again, you will have other things instead to worry about.
