After playing POE2 for some time i just feel like i hate the new atlas

Problems

i dont like having to THINK/strategize.
Spoiler

there are 2 me's.

one that optimizes.
oh this area has 2-3 watch towers. if i path to them like this i can block some maps which have nothing much in them to juice them up. then when get all the watch towers, i can slap in bonuses to juice the maps up WOOT!

another that doesnt want to.
i just want to explore the map as much as possible and keep going further. lets look for interesting things!

they are at opposing sides of each other. if i optimize i cant explore. if i explore then my maps arent worth it.

t15 waypoints are valuable and dying is penalized so ideally i want to be able to sustain as much as possible which makes optimizing a more ideal way to play.

this also goes into another issue. tablet management. i enjoyed legacy league back in the day. but one day i realized. i HATED micromanaging 1001 different tablets. similarly i hated sextants. i had a huge amount in my stash which i saved up to run once i juice things up. choosing which tablets also becomes a chore.

i just want to "alc and go" but no. thats not juicy enough. i need to use my brain to proper utilize the atlas.

Anti Completionist

Spoiler
i hate seeing "uncleared" areas. i tend to complete them even if its at the expense of my time and effort. i have a mild OCD that i feel VERY annoyed not seeing everything green.

Infinite atlas allows players to get lost

Spoiler
It's infinite by nature. sometimes the map can have so many things you lose track of where you are. on one hand i do appreciate it. but on another i now prefer Last epoch's monolith of fate where their infinite maps can be collapsed/reset and not get too big. when i open the atlas and see so many nodes. i just cant help feel overwhelmed. as mentioned i have minor OCD too which doesnt help. by nature how does one "complete" something thats infinite?

also with it being infinite sometimes i "forget" what i was aiming for. sometimes i look around the atlas and find a juicy spot which i had prepared a few days earlier and totally forgot.

Hah, I'm just like you. I enjoy "filling in the map" a lot more than "juicing". To be honest, this mechanic really emphasizes "optimizing the fun out of the game". I enjoy it a lot, but I'm happy to just slowly meander around the atlas. I really think this Daoist approach is the right way to enjoy this game. If you try to optimize it, you'll be chasing that rabbit forever.

I think these problems can be solved through UI changes. I do think the map can grow unruly, but if we had the ability to place markers, I think that would help a lot.

we just need a search feature with "next" and maybe some placeable location markers.

Other than that, it removes poe1 ability to run the maps you prefer for your build/strategy.

Being forced to run maps you don't prefer doesnt increase game enjoyment.
So dont run maps?

Do Trials instead. I hate maps. Ill never run them for my main content. Trials are so much better. No juicing, dont have to worry about rarity, cheap investment, etc.

Id rather drink acid out of my own ass.
Yeah never liked "infinite" in games. Bethesda tried that many a time. Fucking boring.
