PC player considering buy on the PS5 too!

Hello, Exiles!
I'm considering purchasing Path of Exile on PS5, but I'd like some input from other console players before making my decision. The game is already poorly optimized on my high-end PC, it struggles significantly, particularly in performance-heavy scenarios. However, I'm curious about how it runs on PS5. How is the overall experience? Can the console handle endgame content, such as running Tier 16 maps filled with Breaches/Delirium, Trials and Pinnacle Bosses? Is this type of content playable, or does the performance drop to unmanageable levels? Currently, my Gemling build with Herald of Ice and my Archmage Spark build both cause noticeable FPS drops in endgame encounters on my PC. It seems that the game heavily relies on my CPU while failing to properly utilize my GPU, kudos to the brilliant engineers at GGG. In short, is it possible to consistently maintain more than 30 FPS during endgame content on consoles? Any insights would be greatly appreciated! Cheers! Last bumped on Feb 11, 2025, 7:16:33 AM

i dont recommend you buy ps5 version of this game because its not playable so many fps drops lags etc

I play on PS5 since launch. Got no FPS Problems (at least no big ones). Some Crashes and some inconvieniences because of Controller Management.
Therefor I often switch to my really old PC to do the Micromanagement and trading there. well if you want 10 frames game then go ahead.I play it after 2 and half months and its still garbage. They really dgaf about consoles.Buy another game

" You say buying it on PS5, is this purely because you have a PS5 or is the consideration more about buying it on console? The PS5 player base seems very vocal about fps, or rather the lack of it. On XBox Series X (which is essentially the same hardware) we seem to have far far less fps issues (or at least people moaning, and I’ve personally not noticed them ever). To be completely open on the subject I do have my graphics settings correctly configured for my XBSX and I don’t watch the fps meter all day as if it’s all that matters, I do get what seems (and is confirmed when I do pause) a constant 60fps, although in a game like this I am not going to noticed a drop unless it’s below 30fps and honestly don’t think I’d even care as long as it’s between 30 and 60. Yes, it's not perfect, yes it can get a slideshow whn running Breaches, and yes this needs to get fixed.
but Overall it runs totally fine, played thru to the pinnacles and got X times my money worth. |

" Thanks for sharing mate, it seems pretty bad comparing to PC, but it's playable nonetheless, I think I'll buy and have it on both platforms. I think breaches can get worse perfomance than what I saw in your video, but overral was fine, delirium maps are very high demanding and you had no problem in doing it in terms of performance. From my experience with the game and almost 150h playing,right now I wouldn't recommend getting the game on PS5.
Fps drops are frequent when in breaches or playing in a party where a character has lovely shinny skill effects. I have adjusted the graphic settings several times and followed other's players advice but still, the game has crashed more than once to the homescreen menu when doing breaches. If you plan on playing with a minion build, thing gets even worse, I had to switch my build because my skelly arsonists were killing the fps. Have a good day |
