Question about the POE2 Campaign structure

So I have a question in the aesthetic design choices for the campaign Acts 1-3 (obviously we don't know exactly what/where 4-6 entails yet)?

Was it on purpose that Acts 1, 2, & 3 follow Diablo 2 exactly????

For example in D2 Act 1, we start off in an encampment, then travel through a forest, into a graveyard, and end up in a cathedral.

In POE2 Act 1, we start off in an encampment, then travel through a forest, into a graveyard, and then end up in a manor.

Seems a little to bit on the nose.

Then in Act 2 of Diablo 2, we head to a Desert, and within this desert we travel to the Arcane Sanctuary.

In POE2 Act 2 we travel to the desert, and then we travel to the Trial of the Sekehmas, and wait for it, Stage 4 of the trial, is completely different then the first 3, almost exactly like and Arcane Santuary.

After we finish the desert in D2 we travel to the jungle/swamp area for Act 3 and the boss of this act is in heart of a temple.

Let me know when this starts to sound familiar. In POE2 act 3 we travel to a jungle/swamp area, and the final boss of this act is in the heart of a zigguart.

I mean, I can't be the only person that has noticed this, its a fucking exact copy.

Thank you, the progression seems exactly the same!

Yep. I am 100% sure that this is intended. GGG only made PoE1 because they were huge Diablo 1 & 2 fans and thought that Diablo 3 didn't hit the mark, so they developed their own spiritual successor.

I am not spoiling you, but we already know the setting of Act 4 & 5, I think only Act 6 is unknown atm. So yeah, probably just a "nod" to the loved classic.

Anyway, I love the first 3 Acts so far. Sure, some areas could be a little bit smaller, but besides that, I always had fun running the Acts.

I did Act 1-3 around 20 times and still like it, so good work on GGG's side, especially because I am a huge PoE1 campaign "hater". Not because I do the campaign between 3-6 times per league, having done it so often over years isn't the problem - I dislike the PoE1 campaign the second time I had to do it.
It's just different.
