Endgame Map Device, 6 Six Portals = 1 Chance To Live?
I have just started playing the Endgame of POE2 and have found that when using a Waystone in the Map Device that 6 Portals are formed, just in the Endgame of POE1.
However, I have also noticed that if I die in said-Waystone Map, then POE2's remaining 5 or less Portals can not be used to re-enter the currently used Map with my character. Is this current Portal utilization restriction intentional? I can only hope that this restriction is not intentional because the original POE1 did not work this way. Can anyone, even GGG, apply clarification to my question? Thank you. Last bumped on Feb 9, 2025, 5:23:57 PM

" " Many people in the community, also don't enjoy it and want it removed or another option added in like Revive Coins.. They should at least add in "Revive Coins" like how the Chinese Client of the Game offers by Tencent. Revive Coins – Allowing players to revive in place instead of having to restart maps, reducing frustration in tough encounters. Revive Coins: you may buy and spend these coins to revive in SC leagues to avoid XP loss up to level 95. The costs go up gradually, up to 4 coins per deaths at level 90+. These coins are not very expensive and are often given as free gifts. ![]() Revive Coin: https://pathofexile.fandom.com/wiki/Revive_Coin They might also want to think about adding in QoL Features from Chinese PoE That Should Be Added to the International Version such as: 1. (Auction House/Trade Market) – A more streamlined, in-game trade system that reduces reliance on third-party websites. 2. Revive Coins – Allowing players to revive in place instead of having to restart maps, reducing frustration in tough encounters. 3. More Stash Space by Default – The China version provides more stash tabs without needing as many microtransactions. 4. Pet Auto-Item Pickup – Pets can automatically collect currency and basic items, reducing the need for manual looting. 5. Auto-Sort Stash Button – A single-click stash organization feature to quickly sort and arrange items. 6. VIP System – A battle pass-like system that provides QoL benefits without disrupting game balance. 7. Better Currency Stack Sizes – Increased stacking for currency items like Chaos Orbs, Exalted Orbs, etc., to free up inventory space. 8. Death Log (Death Recap System) – Provides a detailed breakdown of how you died, showing the final hits received, debuffs, mitigation details, and a timeline of incoming damage before death. 9. Auto-Identify Feature – Automatically identifies items when picked up, saving scrolls and time. 10. Improved UI & Minimap Enhancements – A cleaner, more detailed UI with better quest tracking and improved minimap clarity. 11. Daily Login Rewards – Small bonuses for logging in each day, such as currency shards or crafting materials. " Thank you for your input this topic. I expected that other players of POE2 shared my disappointment with the current Endgame Map Device Portal functionality. My solution to this issue would be to allow all party-oriented players to be able to use all 6 Map Device Portals until they are all used up, just like in the design of POE1's Endgame. Of course, there are many other acceptable solutions to this issue as well; like you mentioned "Revive Coins" are an option. Also, I have seen other forum solution suggestions such as "Decrease Portal Quantity At Higher Tier Maps" My primary concern that I do not understand why GGG is currently using THIS method of Map Device Portal utilization structure in POE2 when POE1's structure was already working well within the existing POE1 player-base. |

What the other post doesn't tell you is that the chinese servers are Pay2win so you get things like the coins and other "QoL". You might not like the 1 death system but people adjusted to it and have been able to progress without issues. See it as a test to your build.

" I understand your perspective and thank you for sharing it. Even though I prefer the original POE1 Map Device Portals system, I had been able to adapt to it. However, I just do not enjoy this new system. Thus, I am concerned that since I do not enjoy the new system, that I will not want to play the game as it continuously increases in difficulty. For example, imagine a future scenario where we, players, fight against High Tier Bosses, such as The Elder or The Shaper in POE2 Maps with this current Portal system. There is a HUGE likelihood in that scenario that we will all get 1-Shot by an attack that we will not be familiar with defensing against. Personally, I can not find joy in such a scenario, because I will not have a fair chance at winning that fight. I am sure that I am not the only player of POE2 that has foreseen that caliber of outcome. Lastly, regarding your Pay2Win point, I do agree that Pay2Win methods are not preferable. I do no wish to ignore that point, however, I think such a point is detour us from my original reason for my post. |

Endgame bosses have more than one try now, so that you have some chance to learn mechanics. Tho even with 6 portals somebody could die for example 6 times on the first phase of a boss fight and never learn next phase. In PoE1 the portals allowed you to skip mechanics all together, I guess that is something they wanted to avoid here. Searing Exarch ball phase? log out and in again.
