The new atlas doesn't work well with waystones.
Like there are instances where a node is just in the way and you need to complete it to get to other nodes. In which case, you just put a waystone with low enough level to one-shot everything, probably even just white T1, and do it as fast as possible. Same thing for towers. Which feels like a waste of time and i think it's a major source of dissatisfaction with the current system. There's just no point in wasting your best waystones, or even just slightly dangerous waystones, on those intermediary nodes, but you STILL HAVE TO RUN THEM.
I feel like the whole waystones thing is a relic of the past where we didn't have effectively infinite atlas. They still have a purpose, like when you level a new character you don't want to just jump straight to T16 so you take one of your lower tier waystones and run those, but i believe this could be solved in some other way. Honestly i don't have a solution but really the new atlas and waystones are in contradiction with each other and it's something to think about.
