Can the best minion build not be a gemling build?

I know it sounds whiny, but it feels kind of bad when the best minion build is a meme build for another class.

Gemling is the best x build for a bunch of other classes in this game. Totems, quarterstaves, etc.

It's just a completely broken ascendancy that needs changed.

Seriously. I understand and appreciate that you're not confined to a certain playstyle for each class/ascendancy, but when the whole point of an ascendancy to excel in a certain area it feels a bit cheap that an off meta meme build for another class clears your best builds.

The best witch minion ascendancy at the moment is Infernalist, which also doesn't make any sense. And don't get me started on the hound, which should be Infernalist's signature minion but in reality it is nothing more than a passive buff (ok, it is also a vacant slot where you can put culling strike against bosses). And the only real reason why Infernalist is the current minion ascendancy is because of the spirit increase.

The one exception of course is RS, which is the perfect Infernalist minion skill. But even RS has taken a back seat in PoE 2, now being a side-effect of casting other skills. There is some potential in the ascendancy tree for being a true demonic avatar of fire, with your allies by your side, but to my knowledge there isn't any viable build like that yet and everyone just goes Beidat's will, and for good reason.

Meanwhile there is nothing for undead minions, and even more nothing for chaos minions or golems. The expectation is that necro & chaos will be the third ascendancy, but we can't be sure about that at all. So far, PoE 2 has shown us a different mix of classes and ascendancies than what most expected. The common sense thing to do would be to give golems to the third Sorceress ascendancy, and necro/chaos/curses to Witch. That is a lot to fit in, so maybe some of what we expect Witch to do will be moved to other classes.

They could also give us some actual demon minion skills (fighting summons and supports) which is what Infernalist really needs, both thematically and in terms of gameplay.

We will first have to wait for the rest of the classes, ascendancies, and unique items to drop, then we will see how big adjustments GGG is willing to make to the ascendancy trees.
