Can't path to new map.

Just completed a map, says "map completed" in the atlas view. Dotted line to a new map but instead of being white the map dot is beige. Cannot path to the map connected to the map I just completed. Is there a way around this?

Of course this is the critical mountain crossing link where there is NO way around. I have literally run over 100 maps trying to get to 3 visible citadels and this is the ONLY path to them. Have I wasted 4 days of play time to this stupid effing apparent bug?
