Atlas Navigation Shortcuts missing

When I first opened maps I thought there was a home icon you could press to go to the beginning and later I set up a checkpoint. There are now no markers on my atlas. How do I get them back or is this a bug? It is driving me nuts. Also, my atlas shows the ACT 1,2,3 navigation interface.... Why?
