Instantly went from my favorite to least favorite game devs of all time.
RIP GGG. Tencent has to be screaming at them right now.
"But it's EA" 6 years....for this? HAHAHAHA PoE 1 is the best. PoE 2 is something. Last bumped on Jan 31, 2025, 2:59:58 AM

" Actually, I think Tencent is part of the issue. |

In hindsight, we all should've know this was coming, seeing/hearing Jonathan badmouth PoE 1 in every interview throughout the PoE development updates. There's probably not many developers left that actually cares/have some passion when it comes to PoE 1.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

6?
more like 8+ it's not like they were just like "you know what would be cool" during exilecon 2019. it was being developed for years before the announcement. Were you not here during the time they had to stop posting on reddit because they were getting 10k+ downvotes per post and being compared to being worse than blizzard, ea etc? this is nothing new but you all are npcs that don't listen to ol arpgaddict you listen to shill streamers that get flown across the world for free to hype up a bad dev |

" I really doubt it, people love to scapegoat Tencent but they are hands off in most circumstances and GGG isn't a dubious studio that needs stepping on they have continued to be successful and grow since acquisition. GGG's current approach is absolutely costing them money in the short term, they are gambling that PoE2 is going to be big enough over time that it will be worth swallowing the loss of PoE1s very stable and reliable cyclical release schedule. They might be right about that from a business perspective but its a bit of an unknown - PoE2 trended very high as initial marketing buzz tends to get maximum adoption but they still have a cyclical model to return to and it remains to be seen how much the new playerbase will spend each league vs the old playerbase. We will only get a vague insight into that from their financial publications anything else is just speculation. So from a business perspective a reasonable gamble maybe even a good one. Ethically though their choices are pretty garbage, ethics rarely play into business decisions obviously but often to our detriment. |
