Now that 3.26 is indefinitely delayed, can we talk about making POE2 more like POE1?

A lot of us POE1 players that don't like POE2 have been trolled and insulted for criticizing POE2. We've endlessly heard "POE2 is not POE1, they are different games. Go play POE1".

Well now the devs admit that 3.26 is delayed until AT LEAST a few weeks after POE2 0.2, and let's be honest it will be delayed past that. They are clearly too afraid to release new POE1 content and draw players away from the already struggling POE2.

At this point the devs just need to admit that POE1 is dead. Then at least us POE1 players have the right to start demanding and advocating that POE2 become more like POE1.

funny but a bit too soon maybe :)
i prefer they dont get too similar, the risk would be they "merge" them and we re stuck with the new poe 2 vision. give us a moddable poe 1 at least.

You see, you're still thinking in the mindset that POE1 and POE2 are going to continue to exist as different games.

I strongly, strongly doubt the devs are going to let that happen. POE2 is struggling, and a new POE1 season would almost kill POE2 at this point.

This is exactly why we need the devs to make a firm decision. Either commit to POE1, or officially announce its development has ceased. All we want is communication and clarity. At least if POE1 is officially dead, we can start pushing back against the "POE2 and POE1 are different games" narrative.
well my reasonning is that poe 1 still make them a lot of money. only question is will people really play a league every 1.5 months if both games have 4 leagues a year.
but one poe 1 league every 6 months with maybe sth like necro settlers in the middle or some poe 2 reused assets better than nothing

We might get to that point, but I doubt it. I'll be happy if I'm wrong and POE1 survives with even 2-3 leagues a year.

But again, right now POE2 is struggling. I guarantee even if they released a fresh league with recycled (old) content and just more events, that there would be a mass exodus from POE2 to POE1. That would tank POE2's playerbase, causing the rest of the POE2 tourists to also leave. That in turn would kill the momentum of POE2, and the devs just won't allow that to happen.

That's why Jonathan's video pisses me off. He makes it sound like 3.26 is delayed because they don't have resources to work on it. But he knows it's because POE1 and POE2 can't co-exist right now. Unless POE2 gets to a stable state where they can afford to bring players back to POE1, we won't see any further content.

I just wish the devs would be open and honest about this.

Can you elaborate, why is PoE2 struggling, in what ways?

Its a barebone game right now with maybe 30% of its planned content released (skills, classes, weapontypes etc) and its got so many bugs it would take a dedicated team MONTHS to clear them out.

Additionally it is losing active players rapidly because there isnt enough skill/support/class combinations out there to keep people experimenting with different types of gameplay. And for the skills that currently are available half of them are under-tuned, the other half overpowered.

In PoE1 you might get tired of the league mechanics and watered down economy after a month but there is enough experimentation potential to keep you going for a LONG time
