Reality Rending NOT WORKING With Spells

What title says. I want to play chaos builds, but no chaos ascendancy of the witch right now. No shadow class, either, so... My option is monk (chayula) or blood mage (crits), but... Reality Rending node does not seem to work with SPELL HITS, just ATTACK HITS. Is this intended or a bug? Thank you! :))

I tried witch with essence drain/contagion but the DPS sucked even with practically all chaos damage nodes taken, so I changed back to minions.

Now I also know why the skill is called "contagion", because if your witch tries to kill a boss with it, it will take the c*nt ages...

The way to scale DoT is with crit, because the harder the hit, the stronger the DoT, but still. I can't really confirm that the Reality Rending node works with spell hits. Anyone else care to contribute?
