better explanation for accuracy rating
hello,
i'm playing the game concurrently with one character from each of the 6 main classes, and i'm currently working through the end of act 2 and start of act 3, yet i still feel i have a poor understanding of "accuracy rating". a google search finally showed me that my total accuracy rating is listed on a per-skill basis in the skills tab, even though all the values are the same. i would've thought this woulf be listed in the character tab instead. also, it shows "estimated chance to hit within 2m" as "100%" for my ranger character, but then a tooltip says this may be reduced up to 90% based on distance to target, and a google search says it will also be reduced based on enemy evasion. so since it shows 100% for my character, does this mean that extra accuracy is just plain useless, or can my accuracy rating "overflow", and thus improve my chance to hit at range or against evasive enemies? i watched a few youtube videos about poe2 and it looks like most advanced players treat the "+ to accuracy rating" affix as trash, and i can't tell if this is because they already have enough accuracy on their character or if it really is just a totally useless character stat. please put total accuracy on the character tab, and provide a better explanation as to what benefit a player might get by improving this stat (if at all), or at least give some indication when we've reached the practical cap. thanks. -az Last bumped on Jan 28, 2025, 11:39:58 PM

It's exactly as it says - hit rate is calculated based on attacker accuracy and target evasion. You can't go over 100% but it's still useful against evasive targets, maps with evasive enemies or to hit enemies at a distance (your accuracy rating can suffer up to 90% reduction against enemies further than 12 meters away). Also note that it's not really chance to hit after the first hit, it's hit rate, because it's entropy based instead of random chance. So if you have 50% then first hit will be random, then you will have miss after every hit consistently. It just has internal counter that increases every time you miss and when it goes above certain value you get a hit and then that value is subtracted from counter.
