Build balance is awful - 1 button/autobomber builds are way better than high effort builds
I've been trying out a bunch of different builds and somehow the most powerful builds are the 1 button or autobomber style builds.
Eg; I made a detonate dead blood mage & a pathfinder decompose in ssf. They are both the same premise - using sacrifice to use minions as corpses. The pathfinder decompose is sooo much stronger than DD that it feels like a joke. And it just runs around killing everything whereas the bloodmage has to target minions, cast DD (which is slow AF and does less damage than decompose) and has to deal with awful minion AI. yep, it is sad balance. And I don't understand why they want to way full season for balance changes.
I get it that they won't destroy poeple builds, but they could do I once during mid season, or few months before patching anyway. Biggest balance issue is game core xD. It requires you to delete monsters before they touch you or people will say build is trash. In my opinion making game balance around Capping resistances is wrong, because you can't progress beyond cap, and only way to win is to kill mobs faster. So if your build is bad u can't actually progress and you are essentially forced to change build. I narrowed down by build few times. I though I went with all dps I could in tree. But then during act (5-6) dps checks were nightmare for me. (I wanted to play warior with shield and I still do) Im level 81. And im not even gonna try going to sekhem again. Its pure waste of time. +1 to the OP first off.
" I think not doing rapid balance adjustments during an early access period is probably the biggest mistake GGG is making by a landslide. The lack of proper ways to scale defenses compared to the absurdly disproportional ways player and enemy damage scales is also wild. I also have a post covering that issue you mentioned about scaling resistances among other related problems with res right now if it peaks anyone's interest: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/3629096 Last edited by LVSviral#3689 on Jan 28, 2025, 8:30:26 PM

I don't even understand how they came up with the numbers?
1 skill costs mana, has a cast time and does 20% of the corpse's life as physical damage once per cast. The other skill costs no mana, is instant cast and creates a lingering AoE for 4 seconds that poisons for 40% of the corpses life?!! And it's on a low level unique base with almost no stat requirements. Like, wtf is this balance. How do these 2 things exist in the same universe? |
