Something I've been thinking about for a long time about "Looters" (suggestion)
I've played 3 characters now, and my highest is 73 on T4 maps. So I'm not some super chad. I'm bringing a semi-casuals perspective.
When I played with my Sorc, the only uniques I would find are Shields. I literally found 4 different unique shields, before I found a single unique wand/staff, or anything useful for my class. Which ended up being Wanderlust around when I was level 40s to 50s. But I already had 25% Movement speed stat, and decent boots already. So the unique boots were currently useless. When I played with my Monk. I found unique quivers, and armors. When I finally played on my Merc, I have found nothing but unique staves and wands. _ I understand that this is kind of a good thing. Because it incentivizes the player to play a new character. However it's a terrible experience in practice. My suggestion is that on early levels 1-40 maybe. There should be a "higher" chance that if a unique drops. It will be for the class you are playing. This can be turned off for new Leagues as it can give an advantage to new league blasters. But for characters that are new and running standard league. The % chance should be higher, it makes the experience more fun. _ And I'm not joking about the shields screenshot : https://gyazo.com/52b0d15d6abeda3b7b3e5016ba7606ee I found all 4 of these before I found any other unique item in the game. I know the wand or staff that "Could" drop would still be useless for my setup. But seeing constant "Unique Shield" drops in a row. When you're not even using a class that is shield based... Is insanely lame. Just seeing a "Unique Wand" drop, would have been hype while leveling.

Disagree, if you play trade then sell the items you dont use.
All classes can equip all items so how do you decide what is the right drop. Last edited by ololulu#7512 on Jan 27, 2025, 7:08:29 PM

But that's the thing. PoE encourages really off the wall stuff. I've played Witches that tote a shield around. Ranger that uses ES gear. A Sorceress that uses a Wand (which is 'witch' coded).
This pins characters into a corner, you're playing 'wrong' if you play a Ranger who uses a Crossbow, because you can't find uniques for yourself. |
