Awesome game, great storytelling, great art great to play but no in game auction house =Garbage

I do not understand why there is no in game auction house, especially as a console player. I have not used the trade site and I have no plans to in the future as I A) Do not want to have to go to a third party website while I am playing a video game on my console, B) Do not trust it and feel as though I am just being forced to go somewhere where there is a chance of being hacked or ripped off, C) I feel as if this decision is based on the cancerous thought that many game developers incorporate into games as a form of social engineering to get people to interact with other players and I am old and not interested. (if I wanted to be social I would leave the house) :)

As stated I have not used the trade site feature but have been reading lots of posts saying how terrible it is for console players and whereas I very much appreciate the GGG folks adding console play to this game it is clear that this is a mainly PC game as many of the systems for console outside of actually playing it are extremely clunky and much more difficult to use than it is for PC players.

I would think that an in game auction house would alleviate all of the current trade site issues as you would have complete control over in game systems and would be able to quickly root out any nonsense shenanigan's perpetuated by people with no moral integrity. It would also put a stop to the pay to win nonsense that is currently in place as it is overtly obvious that some folks are paying real money to other folks, or teams of people, to boost their characters and items and yes I will make the call out *cough* *cough* Elon Musk who is 100% paying someone actual money to boost his character. Don't believe me just look at the leaderboards as I believe he just hit the #3 spot on the Hardcore leaderboards. Pay to win is a game killer.

So I guess I can look forward to only being able to play in solo self find & Standard league for early access and beyond. And I FULLY recognize that I am the one not willing to use it but everything I have read about it does not paint an exceptional picture of something I want to be involved with. I also think that this will be a game killer for people with limited play time in their lives to dedicate to a video game, in other words casual players like me who will get extremely bored and frustrated in the end game content without the added benefit of being able to sell items I do not need and to purchase items that can help me have a better gaming experience.

After all this is just a video game that is played for fun And I have no interest in having to spend hours of my life to research the ins and outs of trading items on a third party website when there are plenty of other games out there that incorporate in game mechanics for trading. This is not to say I will not continue playing this game currently as I am having a blast and in my opinion this game blows out of the water any triple AAA game that has been made in the last 15 years. But I know myself and eventually if I am forced to spend ungodly amounts of time solo self finding RNG based items with an RNG reroll system I will eventually become extremely frustrated and lose all interest in this game entirely.

Strongly disagree. I play on console and think the trade site is fucking awesome, especially compared to what's available for D4 (the only other ARPG I've played). I have a cheapo laptop next to my gaming setup that I use and don't try messing with the button in game that uses your console browser (I'm sure that experience is awful). My experience might be different if I didn't have an easy access laptop to use.

An in-game auction house would be nice, but i think it would take way too long to search for items to buy on a controller with the level of customization that you can do on the site to search for specific item types, affix rolls, etc. There are a TON of search customization options available along with a "live search" feature to notify you as soon as someone posts an item with the parameters you're searching for.

Also, the trade site is not third party. It's hosted by GGG on pathofexile.com and ties directly into the game. You click "direct whisper" next to an item on the site and the message immediately pops up in your in-game chat. Someone DMs you for an item you posted and when you invite/they join your party it highlights the item in your stash so you can find it quickly.

I understand the "can't teach an old dog new tricks" mentality, but do yourself a favor and just try it. Don't trust all of the negativity being spewed by other console players that are trying to use the low quality console browser or are bitching just to bitch (fan favorite of the younger generation). It makes playing so much better with the utter dog shit crafting system currently in the game that gives you a 0.5% chance of crafting on an item and actually getting what you want out of it.
PoE1 has an in game auction house. PoE2 should have one too.

Maybe Chris Wilson has lost the plot? Maybe they need some new blood and fresh ideas at GGG. No AH is just so inconceivably ..um..let's say 'not good' I wonder at this dev team's commitment.

Well as stated I am fairly old in the video game world (58) but I learn new tricks all the time. But I am not willing to learn a new trick in which I have to buy a laptop just so I can trade items in a video game. I am glad it works for you but the whole system of whispering someone, waiting for a reply that may or may not come, having to join a party with someone that may or may not actually have the items you seek, and meeting someone who may or may not be actually just wanting to get a look at your inventory page so he can hack your account and steal all your shit, at a location seems like a lot of time waste to me. I want to play the game and run around and destroy stuff, and try not to die too much :), not sit around and do administrating time suck tasks.
I;m going to have too agree about the no AH thing...what a complete waste of time trying to buy things...whisper and wait...total nonsense...I've been trying to buy a new quarterstaff for 2 days but the interface on a steam deck is pure garbage

To each their own. I meant what I originally said in a helping way and not to sound like a dick. If you don't have a laptop, use your cell phone or a tablet. You clearly have a device with internet access that's easy enough to type a 5 paragraph long forum post on. If you're unwilling to use the system that's in place, which is leaps and bounds better than what's available in competing games, it sounds like this game just isn't for you or you should put it down until GGG decides to implement an in game auction house.

I personally hope it doesn't get implemented because the current system ensures you don't under price the items you're trying to sell. If you post something now and immediately get 10 messages, you priced it too low. With an auction house, you price something too low and it gets snatched up immediately leaving you feeling bad for selling too low. In a currency-driven game, I want the most currency that I can get for the items I'm trading so I can save up to buy better items without as much grinding.

No worries man, I did not think you were being a dick, we just disagree is all, no harm no foul.
An in-game auction house is a necessity for those of us who only play a couple of hours a week. When I have time to play, I don't want to have to spend an hour trying to get a reply on an item. I should be able to hit a buy it now button, have the item transferred to my bag or stash, and have the currency transferred to the seller. The biggest downside to an economy driven game is when not everyone can sit in front of their computer 10 hours a night selling.

If I want to buy new gear from someone, it should be a simple process that doesn't involve leaving the game, going to a website, notifying a seller I would like their item, hoping they're actually sitting in front of their chat window and not running maps, and then hoping they have time to invite to a group, and then hoping it's not a bot trying to raise the price of the item, or someone trying to scam you. That's a whole lot of steps for something that should be: there's an item I could use, I have the resource for it, click, there, now I have the item and he has the resource. Back to gaming.

In a grind heavy game like this, every minute spent waiting on a market sale, is a minute I'm not playing the game.
