Vile Vultures disappear while still attacking

Whenever I encounter Vile Vultures (normally on that map with many different platforms connected with pathways), they do this little jump attack and then they disappear. At first I thought they were falling into the floor but last night one of them disappeared and was attacking me while invisible.
