So GGG wants us to "learn" something....

What I have learned:

A) While you might not ever understand the rationale behind the random off screen AOEs/death effects you will learn when they are most likely and develop a habit of pre-emptive dodges followed by 10-15s seconds of waiting to collect drops

B) Overall you will die less, but the loss from each death gets exponentially worse

C) You can scale whatever defenses you want but white mobs will still be able to one shot you (Current character has ~2k HP, 3.5k Mana, 50% of damage before life, and just got one tapped by a single normal in Vaal Factory...) With 75% lighting res my napkin math buts that damage at ~9k minimum... From a normal enemy

D) Similar to C is white mob stunning- you can scale all you want into Stun Threshold, but you will never know how effective it is. At a certain point 90% of your deaths will be due to being stun locked by basic packs

E) The trade economy is out of control. That 4-affix rare with only one T9+ and the rest garbage is not worth a divine. Maybe it will motivate GGG to reset early and add some more classes/weapons

In summary there is a point for everyone (for myself it is right around lvl 91-92 on the 4th character) where gear is set, build is set, to upgrade you need 10+ div for a single item, you really only die to basic mob stun locking, and you ask "What does GGG want me to 'learn'?"

You learn it is time to play something else, come back for new classes and reset. I really do like the game and not saying anything is wrong or it's terribly bad, it's just hit that critical mass where it isn't worth it. Thanks GGG, glad I learned something
