Long section of Atlas cut-off

Purely from a gameplay perspective, I feel the Atlas generation needs some work to prevent huge parts of the Atlas being physically inaccessible for extended periods of time (i.e. until the player routes around half the world).

On my Atlas, there's a long section of the Atlas that is cut off from access due to simply having no connections. Here's a series of screenshots showing the problem, going from north to south:

Above image shows the start of the divide way up north.

In the above image, note how there are some nodes quite close to each other but the forest seems to prevent any connections.

The image above shows that this long lake prevents any connections crossing it.

In this image above, you see that ONE, exactly ONE, connection was able to cross the lake, but then the connection terminates on that hideout node.

This image above is the last one, it shows that finally right down south I may have found a way to the other side, but as you can see, the mountain range and desert has no connection, and there's only ONE connection extending way down south into the forest. I actually don't even know if this node will keep on connecting and reach upwards towards the other side of the lake.
