Been thinking about the release schedule for a bit. Some ideas.
Recently, the devs were asked when content updates should be and what they should contain... I wanted to share my thoughts from since then and help put a community voice towards the devs so they can see where the community lies on the subject.
From the looks of it, acts contain some league mechanics. However, none in acts 1-3 contain breach. So I am figuring act4-6 will somehow introduce it. I am venturing towards act 6, since breach is very other worldly. I think act 4 or 5 would be expedition, if we keep act 3's theme being there. I also think this is when the kingsmarch town comes into play (which I hope is somewhat brought in from poe1 to 2. It would be nice to have waystone mappers already :D)... Considering how the devs responded to blight, I doubt that will be part of an act, although it is very on theme with the plot of poe2. However, delirium is also not brought in during acts 1-3, so this would be in 4 or 5. There are a lot of remaining poe1 leagues that aren't here, but I was mainly picking the ones present in poe2 that aren't started in the acts to introduce them. With those points of info out of the way... I really think the next content update should bring classes, ascendancies, and skillgems. Because this would be the most response based work needed for balancing and would clear the road for the devs to do an acts 4-6 drop all at once, while still providing new gameplay experiences for the players. Then I think acts 4-6 should be brought in, then any other league mechanics they want before launch. If players demand a changed flow before acts 4-6, the 3rd trial and some leagues could be inserted in there before acts 4-6 I think. I agree with the devs that releasing one act at a time poses a flow problem that shouldn't need addressing. The cruel difficulty is a placeholder and should be swapped once. Not modified to extend the pre-endgame flow. The devs also said they wanted to shake up the endgame flow to make it better, so that could be done before acts 4-6 as well.
