Chat reports are out of hand

As title implies.

I'm up to 3 hour chat mute for the most ridiculous things. The current system where people can report and you get automatically muted for an exponentially growing amount of time based on certain keywords is stupid and promotes pettiness. Whatever happened to just ignoring people you don't want to hear? It's just a source of frustration that doesn't need to be there.
