Post 6# Suggestion] Blood Horde Mode – A New Challenge for Path of Exile 2
Hey Exiles,
I’ve been brainstorming a new game mode for Path of Exile 2, and I think it could add some crazy fun to the game. Imagine a Blood Horde Mode—a wave-based survival mode with bosses, traps, and loot, but with a twist: you need to unlock new areas just to survive as the waves increase. Here’s how I see it: The Premise: In Blood Horde Mode, you’re thrown into a dark, ever-changing arena where waves of enemies come at you relentlessly. You’ll need to survive, adapt, and unlock new areas by defeating bosses to keep progressing. The catch? The initial area starts getting cramped as the waves go on, and you won’t have the room to move if you don’t push forward and unlock more space. How It Works: Wave-Based Survival: Each wave brings stronger, faster enemies. The waves get progressively more intense, and the longer you survive, the more the enemies start throwing at you. New enemy types show up, combining different damage types (elemental, poison, chaos) and fast-moving melee or ranged attacks. Boss Fights for Progression: Every 5–10 waves, a massive boss will spawn. Defeat the boss to earn a Blood Key, which unlocks the next area. These bosses come with their own mechanics, and each one requires a different strategy. You won’t get the key without the fight, and each boss is tougher than the last. Unlock New Areas for Space: As the waves progress, the arena becomes increasingly crowded with enemies. The starting area quickly becomes too small to move around, making it harder to dodge attacks and find cover. The only way to survive is by defeating bosses and unlocking new areas. These new areas give you more space to maneuver, and each one comes with different challenges, traps, and enemy types. Traps and Environmental Interaction: The arenas are filled with traps, but they’re locked behind obstacles. You’ll need to destroy these barriers to activate the traps—spike walls, flame jets, and summoning obelisks that can help you control the flow of enemies. Unlocking these traps is essential for survival as the waves get harder, and they can turn the tide in boss fights. Loot and Rewards: Every boss you defeat and wave you survive rewards you with insane loot. The deeper you go, the better the gear you get, but it’s not just about farming—each new area brings better rewards, but also tougher enemies. You’ll need to be smart with your build and strategy to keep pushing forward. Why This Would Be Awesome: Endless Replayability: With each new wave, each new area, and each boss being unique, this mode would never feel stale. You’ll need to adapt your strategy, gear, and playstyle as the difficulty ramps up and space gets tighter. Co-Op Potential: This would be an amazing co-op mode where players need to work together to survive the waves, unlock new areas, and defeat bosses. Strategic use of traps and space would be crucial when teaming up with others. Scaling Difficulty: The game forces you to evolve your approach. As the arena gets more cramped and enemies start to overwhelm you, unlocking new areas becomes a matter of survival. You’ll need to keep progressing, or you’ll be buried in the horde. Loot and Progression: The further you get, the more rewarding it is. The deeper you go, the better the loot, but the enemies and bosses are no joke. The balance between challenge and reward would keep players hooked. Conclusion: I think Blood Horde Mode could be an epic new addition to Path of Exile 2. It would give us the kind of brutal challenge we love, while forcing us to constantly adapt, plan, and unlock new spaces to keep surviving. Plus, the potential for insane loot and progression would make every wave feel rewarding. Let me know what you think, and if anyone has suggestions to improve it! Exiles! What do you think? Would the constant need for new areas to move around in add the right tension to the mode? Feel free to tweak it or share more ideas! So Delirium but with bigger bosses than Kosis and that other one?

Haha, exactly! Imagine Delirium, but with bosses that make Kosis look like warm-ups. Instead of just ramping up the mob density or damage, the focus here is on survival—every wave gets more intense, and you’ll need to outsmart the enemies and the environment to keep going. These bigger bosses would have unique mechanics that demand strategy and teamwork, but the key difference is that there’s no backing out—you’re in it for the long haul, with constant rewards for pushing further.
The main idea is to keep the challenge fresh by having a mode that’s not about surviving until the next “wave of mobs,” but about intelligently using traps, gear, and upgrades to outlast the increasing tankiness and speed of enemies. This mode would really test your build’s ability to sustain pressure for longer periods, especially when the space starts shrinking, and you’ve got to keep unlocking new areas just to survive! It’s the same intense Path of Exile vibe, but with a twist where it’s all about clever endurance and using the environment in smart ways. Would definitely be an experience unlike anything else in the game! |
