Anyone playing on really old machine? Like, seriously old.

wanted to know if getting a SSD have any uses,
as the game currently isn't really bottle necked by drive speed, there is barely any activity on the F1 bar/graph

the situation is the goat dang green shader bar is constantly maxed out causing severe lags
I think it just got SIGNIFICANTLY worst after 0.1.1 patch, before that I was still able to play quite smoothly, despite the spec and 30-40fps ish.

i5 2500k
32gb ddr3
RX580 8GB
game on HDD currently, not enough SSD space
latency average 70ms to Singapore

DX12 isn't usable, more than 10fps lower than Vulkan.
cleared shader cache isn't doing anything, obviously it needs to recalculate all the shader and that induce even more lag.
but then again why is it recalculating the shader all the freaking time?
currently there are 621MB of cache in appData/roaming/ but it feels like the game just store it and FORGET they existed.

had old gear b4 upgrade altho never tried running it from HDD- my intuition tells me that shader fetching will become an issue. you can try setting shader cahse size to unlimited so the game will try to re-use shaders, but a lot of them are re-compiled anyway (shaders need to be compiled per instance form what i know). you can try this old trick with converting some ram into disk space and point shader folder to that space to see if it improves?

edit- just realized you have some ssd space, point the shader folder to that if it isn't already there

In poe1 ssd made huge difference in load times and I think its same in poe2.
Do you get any performance boost from it? I think you get some but is it worth upgrading for that I dont know.

Why are you trying to play this game on an HDD, jfc there's no helping some people. If this is your main game what else could you possibly have other than the OS on your SSD? The game runs like shit because you're trying to play the game on 2004 hardware, go get a job or ask your daddy for some money, holy fuck.

5600x and 1660S (launched oct 2019) here. DDR4 8GBx2. no Win11 24H2 update installed. DX12. minimum 20ms latency to game server.

Game client is on m.2 drive. I'm not sure but shader cache (via nvidia driver) seems on the boot drive (sata ssd) by default.
It takes like 15 seconds or more till the green shader bar settles in a new map.
FPS goes 30~40 fps at loading screen for a moment and waggling between 80~90 while waiting in the map.
I can feel stutters if I move during the process.
Spikes are there but it's not anywhere close to those situations ppl reporting.

Other than that, my potato doesn't seem to have rotted yet.

Do you use foreground FPS limit btw ?

I set 120 fps at launch. I have stable 120 fps in hideout since launch and 40~90 at the stash box in ziggurat refuge cruel act 3 so I set 90 FPS limit to not burn my potato for no reason.

5600x is on 45W eco mode. It does nothing special if I set it default except for higher temp. change rates and noisier fan.
