A Potential Fix to System Crashes/Freezes
I've been having game freezes, system lock ups, and general poor performance since the launch of the open beta for Path of Exile 2. After some digging and by the process of deduction, I've concluded that for me the problem was a Windows 11 service called CrossServiceDevice.exe. Looking into what this service does, google states that the service facilitates cross-device functionalities, such as activity sharing. Very odd that Path of Exile 2 interacts so heavily with it to the point that it was using mostly, if not all of my CPU resources. At any rate, if you are experiencing system lock ups or very poor performance with Path of Exile 2, try disabling this service. This is actually very easy to disable in windows settings, and a quick Google search will explain how to do it, if you are looking for solutions to this game performance and system locking/freezing problem. By disabling CrossServiceDevice.exe, it has made my game run 100 percent better.
On a side note however, I'm very curious as to how this service interacts with the game, I'd love for any knowledgeable tech people to delve further into this and get to the bottom of why Path of Exile 2 relies so heavily upon it. UPDATE: This is a great video as well about what CrossServiceDevice.exe does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=056kREIS1xY Last bumped on Jan 25, 2025, 9:19:38 PM

Going to bump this. People should be more informed as to how companies are using telemetry and the potential impact it can have on system performance. It also could help people's system stability problems they are having.
