Blood Mage feedback

After a Month I think of playing I would like to give a little feedback to the Blood Mage ascendancy: Sanguinemancy: Not as bad as it sounds. The life overflow is OP especially with crit Builds. But the lifecost? It forces to always play with Inspiration on your Spam skill. Maybe 50% of mana cost would be enough? Vitality Siphon: Direct damage Leech is very strong, The node would be even better if life wasn't such a joke as a defensive layer. Still very powerful. Gore Spike: weak filler, if it wasn't a prerequisite for sunder the flesh it would not be worth the points. Sure with 3k life its about 75% crit multi but reaching ~700 multi as a BM is not that hard so this this mostly is only a 10% dmg increase without any utility. Sunder the Flesh: This is actually the real core of blood mage. Currently this the only option to actually focus on crit as a caster, well deserved for the last points Open Sores: weak as hell and absolutely unneeded. Also buggy in interaction with many curse supports. Blood Barbs: This would actually be quite good if it was chaos damage instead of elemental damage. But i guess they didn't want the bleeding/poison double tap. Because bone spells suck. just compare hexblast to bonestorm as a nuke... Grasping Wounds: ah the upside of petrified blood. would be nice if other options(spell leech,crit) wouldn't be better Crimson Power: with this it think you could reach up to 8k life or maybe even 9k. too bad you loose all the damage from the ascendancy what are your thoughts? did i miss something, or am I wrong? :D Current Build: Penance Brand God build?! https://pobb.in/bO32dZtLjji5 Last bumped on Jan 23, 2025, 9:12:03 AM

I agree.
Sanguinemancy forces to play crit. This is already VERY limiting. This makes Sunder the Flesh almost mandatory. Sanguinemancy / Grasping Wounds / Crimson Power - life+life+life, no damage branch. Vitality Siphon - even more life, still no damage. Open Sores - is a joke. insignificant QoL without any damage or defense. Blood Barbs - what even is this? It's not bad, but what is it doing here? It has no correlation. It should be a branch of 2-3 nodes. Blood remnants + leech + petrified + extra life is a good meme (ascendancy with no damage). But really crit is the only option here. The greatest fix for the Blood Mage would be: Sanguinemancy is free (grants 2 more ascendancy points). It alone would fix a lot of problems. Open Sores - replace with a decent curse branch. Blood Barbs - replace with a decent bleed branch. |

Sanguinemancy - why it is not a choice for crit. part of the passives and why still need mana? I don't understand it. IMO it should remove any mana cost so this class could focus on life and ES
Blood Barbs - without a proper way to aggravate bleeding, it seems so irrelevant. |
