About league resets

I've seen a lot of people asking about what they mean and weather or not its a wipe. So here's some info. A lot of people also get told your characters aren't wiped and get moved to standard which is true you can still play them, But there are some huge caveats people are missing with this.
1. Yes your character moves to standard league and you can keep playing them, however if you want to play the new league content that was added you can't use your standard character to do so. You have to start over with nothing, if you don't you will not be playing the new content. This league content might never make it to standard league because sometimes they don't go "core". So if you decided to wait for 3-4 months in standard on your old character you might be rather disappointed to find out you don't get to play the new league content anyway. At which point another new league starts for 3 or 4 months and you can decide to join that one or miss content. 2. They add challenges with every league thay unlock cosmetics for your account, this is another thing you miss out on not restarting. 3. The standard league you get moved to has a broken economy, everything gets sent there every league so the amount of currency everyone has is through the roof. Good luck trading there if you aren't gathering money from leagues all the time I personally love the league system and trying new builds every few months, it's part of what I consider the arpg loop. However telling people oh you can just keep playing your old character it isn't a wipe is only half the truth, you're majorly gimped on standard servers, the trade us broken because of everything getting sent there, and you don't get to enjoy the new content that was added for the league. 1 thing to note:
EA characters won't be sent to standard league. After release they will go to a legacy league that's isolated from standard/upcoming leagues. " PoE2 Early Access FAQ Will there be wipes during Early Access? No, there will not be a wipe. We will do new leagues but none of your characters will be wiped, they will just go to a league called Early Access (so they will never be in Standard). In some cases characters in old leagues might be somewhat broken by balance changes though. After launch the "Early Access" characters will still exist. |
